-

-
try a system restore.. try something earlier in the week.. if that doesnt correct the bad part of the file system.. guess what.. you get to reformat!! Or call tech support.. to tell you to reformat.. lol

then go to the device manager and update the drivers.. XP auto detect sucks.. the drivers are old and really out of date..

Internet Explorer 7 is coming this summer...
Swimmer replied to organ_shifter's topic in General Discussion
ok here is the deal.. yes long horn is based on IE7.... However, it isnt even near the quality that will be releases in the summer.. That will be beta but it will be farther along than what was on the leaked copy of longhorn.. Wasnt 4051 leaked?? I never heard of 4074 being release to the public.. As far as being usable to all windows xp users.. yes sp2 will be a requirement.. but by that time it should be just about on every computer and so patched up that it really will not matter all that much. Longhorn = WinXP + IE7 + proprietary version of SVG - a few old API - WinFS, where WinFS = NTFS + bloat from database of metadata that is the explaination that I got.. By the way moonlord.. dont get so ticked.. I can almost that the final release of IE will have tabbed browsing.. They got rocked for it in the release of 6 and FF has taken 7% or so of their market.. Microsoft will respond and if they dont the I am going to stick with FF... I will unless is see a major security change from 6 to 7... Yes.. I do agree that FF is patched quickly.. but it is only patched quickly because it is open source... MS has to wait for the complaint to be registered.. divert man power from other project.. and then correct the code.. At which point everyone is complaining.. FF is able to get a complaint registered and then people all over the world can work on it.. meaning that most of the time there will be a patch or an entire rebuild of the browser the next day, as the case last time with the phishing attack problem... Either way there is no way to make a bullet proof browser.. what you are seeing is open source v. private source... -
Did you install the drivers before installing the card? If you didnt go to device manager and unstall the hardware.. then add new hard ware and continue the process.. That is my guess why it is trying to use the firewire connection as your lan connection...
-
yeah it is called hacking.. it is illegal.. so the answer would be no! You could talk to your Lan admin and ask if they have a vpn for remote acess but I would doubt it...

LOL that brings back memories.. you might want to look into some broadband.. hmm lets see maybe 30-40seconds on a good day for me..

It might be something that the ISP's security settings.. You cant tracert some of the government sites.. but you can pathping them I believe.. or if you know the ip address just ping that a few times and see what happens.. the router itself might not respond to pings to improve proformance on a busy router..
-
can you put an iso copy of like xp pro walk up to a computer install and then boot?? That would be sweet!! I am kinda suprised that the drivers for windows are loaded before the desktop is loaded..
-

Why would you rent your modem?? Buy the damn thing they have a 3 year warrenty.. and in less than 3 years you will have bought it to begin with.. -
it look like if you are going to use a router then you put it into router mode.. other wise it is just bridge.. I looked at this to determine this.. http://www.aztech.com/brochure/Aztech%20DSL305E%20ADSL%20Ethernet%20Bridge%20Modem%20Product%20Brochure.pdf the tech support for this company really blows!
