Ok this seems to be a problems for some reason with IPv6.. The only thing that I can recommend would be to pull out your network card, then reinstall windows.. There is no cure out there of this as of right now.. It does seem that SP2 takes care of this if you can get this on to the computer some way. When you install dont quick format do a full format with ntfs file system..
Ok you might want to try this.. http://forums.windrivers.com/showthread.php?p=571460

No i dont think so.. Just uninstall Windows XP on the computer. Then install windows 2000 on that computer.... Take the non os system and install the windows xp and then activate it.. If you have a company built system then installing Windows xp will not work on the other system!!
all that Nat does is "lock" ports that are not used by programs.. so if you dont have any port forward it pretty much stealths them..
Hmm.. I would give Comcast a call.. How long have you had you internet? I am wondering if you are still on the registeration server.. Give them a call and let them know what is going on.. If I have time this weekend I will try and replicate you situtation. I have a Dlink router.. So it should act the same for the most part..
ok try pathping testmy.net type it exactly like that.. also is your ip address of your router 192.168.0.xxx?? or is it 10.what ever?
If you would like I am currently on aim this might help speed up the process of fixing this problem
that is a really good question.. umm i will see if I can figure that out..
Cholla I have never seen something like that! That is a great find!!
Ok a few more questions:
1) Have you power cycled your modem?
2) Have you contacted Comcast about this problem?
3) is more than one computer having this problem?
I would also like you to pm me with the security level that you are running for zone alarm.. Depending on what level you are running ICMP is block/out going only/ or allowed to function..
that site he posted would work.. make sure that you didnt disable the tracert stuff in zone alarm.. try turning off the zonealarm.. and then it should work..
are you running a software firewall??? I would be really suprised if Comcast disabled the tracert function.. I know that PC-cillin disables the tracert function.. most of the firewalls do.. try that and see if solves the problem.. Are you on a router of any type?
By the way.. Welcome to the forum!!
lol.. i love it.. www.whatismyip.com that should take care you your problem.. If you just got the computer and you are fairly computer savy I would recommend installing a fresh copy of the OS.. That way you get rid of all the crap that most manufactures install because "you need it".. Hope you enjoy!
The point of this article was not to say that firefox is superior to IE... The point was to show that there was a problem and that they, the open source commuinity, was able to patch the "bug" in a timly manner..
uninstall windows xp from one computer and then install windows 2000.. Then you can activate it via the internet. If you have to call in explain that you uninstalled the os from the other machine and that you are transfiring the licence to the new computer..
Just a little side note.. that would be illegal and none of us here advise that you do that! You could download a distro of linux for free or buy a copy of Microsoft.
Just posted this for the firefox users.. here is the download stuff.. uses the .exe http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-aviary1.0.1/
some of that might be to fix the hole in the firewall of sp2.. i see the ie update.. the .net update.. but that is all that is about the same.. It is interesting that my .net didnt need anything..
