I did get another present for Christmas. Its by fat the best a man could get. I wanna keep this pg. Lets just say the Girlfriend and a CLOSE female friend spent some VERY quality time with me. The TALK we all had, Was cool and fun, but really not the kinda talk I figured it would be. Just a Different conversation as it were.

Your download rate can be very tough to calculate. There are SO many factors. With cable you share a line with other users. So if your line has 4 other users, It depends on what they may be downloading. Plus you have to include the Server your downloading from. If traffic is high then your speeds may be a bit slower. A prime example. I watch videos. Late at night. They load pretty fast. During the day. A bit slower. So in the end there is real no simple answer. My best advice, Is pick a package you can best afford, then if your not happy downgrade. I went from the 8 meg to the 20 meg. Was not happy with the 20, felt it was not worth the extra cash, So I went back to the 8 meg. Im happy with that. Sorry, Thats about as close as a answer you will get. There are just WAY to many factors in the connection to calculate how fast your downloads will be.

Got a external Harddrive, A C.D. shredder and Few odds and ends. Kids got a Wii. New Bikes, GF got a Digital Cam and Few other odds and ends. We really don't go crazy on each other. Well I went. Was not to bad. Went early in the am. Place was quiet. I got her a Digital Camera. Holy CRAP there were Tons to pick from. Nice lady helped me out. Paid 100 bucks for a 12 megapixle. I figured she don't like it buy something else. Did not go the cheapest or the most expensive.

Im Going in. Yep its finally time to do the shopping for my Girlfriend. Its only the 21st of December. I wanted to wait a couple of more days, But the midwest is supposed to get nailed with major snow. So I am going to walmart. Gonna hit it early. No Idea what I am gonna buy. Girlfriend is awake and laughing at me whining like a little Girl. I hate christmas shopping. I Dont wanna go. I figured I would Whine a bit more before I left. If the store is crowded, I will shed a tear. Will spend hours walking around in a daze trying to figure out what to buy. If you don't see my post in saw 4 days or more, I am now living at walmart, Send your care packages to there. Man I DON"T WANNA GO........I offered cash. She said if I cared I would go buy something. I am looking for Either a Ipod or Zune. I want it to be able to read books, Listen to music, Play movies. Just not sure What I want. Its really early in the process of deciding. Will pick it up after christmas of course. I started to look at all the choices, Cried like a little Girl and came here in hopes of help. I am guessing 200 dollar price range. Ran across that one a year or so back. To small. Pic is not clear enough for wallpaper on a computer. Its more for a Icon. So bigger and better quality. Nice try though.

I been looking for that pic for ever. Wish it was in color, Make a cool desktop wallpaper. Hope someone knows where to find it.

Don't really upload anything. So Had No idea the uploads were slower. Thats interesting. As far as just surfing downloading stuff. Windows 7 is faster on my setup than Xp. I hang out in a few "questionable" forums. Some of the posters really upload TONS of stuff. I have not seen anyone complain about the upload speed. Maybe you do need to open up the Connections Like you did in Xp. The half open 10 in xp we all learned to love and hate. I will say So far tweaking Windows 7 internet connection on a cable connection just makes it worse. But thats my connection and setup. May be different on yours. But I do keep on hand. "ultimate windows tweaker for Windows 7". Its nice and restores windows default settings. So your tweaks can be reversed pretty easy. Don't have a link so you will just have to do the google.

Back with a bit more info. Tweaking the settings for surfing simply a BAD idea. HA. Tried a few. Made it slower. Its looking more and more like Microsoft has learned to put out a O.S. you don't have to tweak to make it better. So far I have found Windows 7 is already tweaked to the max for surfing. Its kinda nice. I have a pretty decent puter so Tweaking the services seems pointless. Think the only tweak I found is the Shut down tweak does help some. But even then think i am gonna try the default and see if it does not fix a small bug with the icons being so slow to load.

I will say the switch from xp to windows 7 has really taught me allot. I have always been a backup everything kinda guy. Found a program that backs up the browsers. http://www.favbrowser.com/backup/ its free and the program is called fav backup. Odd thing with opera is when you back it up or restore make sure at the bottom you pick opera as the profile, It offers just the keyboard settings and others. As with any backup I always always say TEST IT first. Example with opera. I backed it up with the program. I then Found the location of it. Backed that up to a folder on the desktop. Deleted operas profile folder. Opend opera made sure it was gone. Ran the Program to restore it and all is well. A silly program I loved called winroll just does not work well on WIndows 7 I did find this I use all the time. http://www.hyperionics.com/files/index.asp I use it for the roll the window out of the way. Sometimes I use the pin to keep the window on top. Just never forget. Keep your important stuff burned to disk just in case. A friend and I were talking about Windows 7 release. We both kinda wonder if Microsoft is not making there releases with a small glitch so it can be shared. If your harrrrrrrrr friend who you think is just a geek has it loves it uses it, then they may run out and buy a copy. I do own a legit key, all my geeky friends fell down and about kicked me out of the "we have no life" club. But yea, Its a nice release, The more the people buy, the more money they have to put into the next release.

I will keep Xp on the slave just in case. Really working with windows 7 to see what I can do. Think I have it tweaked as I am gonna. Be careful tweaking this thing. To much and it gets Slow. In short. Leave the services alone. Bad Idea!! Found a work around for a few problems. I had Icon Issues. Thats all better now. Got it to shutdown being slow fixed, Added I think its called Verbose or something like that. Shows in text whats shutting down and starting up. Nice for trouble shooting. So I got a nice jump on what some of problems are and the work around to fix it. The slow shutdown and Icon issues drove me crazy. Will keep a clean updated copy back up. When time allows tear into windows 7 just like I did with Xp. Find all the "O crap time to reload" buttons. Who knows maybe we can get a sticky to post some tips and tricks as we learn them?

After running windows 7 and even dual booting with xp I still find Xp faster. I have windows 7 tweaked pretty well. Now windows 7 does seem faster on the net for browsing. Depending how many "Fixes" Microsoft comes out with It and how it affects O.S. would not surprise me to see the masses back to Xp. What do you guys and gals think??

I am working on a single reg file to tweek windows 7 just the way I want it. Getting close found most already. But looking for a few others. If ya can help would appreciate it. Disable system restore. I use Acronis Disable Automatic updates. Disable error Reporting. Disable Remote assistant Thats the Last 4 I am looking for. All the others I have work. Will continue to google, but so far no luck. Thanks in advance.

Just a short Updated. I bought a UPS. Im telling ya guys. If you can. BUY ONE!!! Not one of those cheep ones you get at wall mart. Spend the 100 bucks and get a Good one. Make sure it has AVR. Automatic Voltage Regulator. While I am not in real need of battery backup, I want a good surge protector. I had a decent surge protector. Even had a guy check it to make sure it was working fine. It was. I just got my first Overload warning from it. Saved my work, Reset it and all is well. Funny part is I had it plunged in to my expensive 40 dollar surge protector. The UPS Caught it and tripped and My surge protector let the surge past. I will never have another computer without one. Probably replace it every 3 or 4 years if unable to find a replacement battery.

Torrent is dying. Fast. There are sites going up all the time so a person can just download from one of the countless file sharing sites like megaupload and rapidshare and Mediafire. You really dont have to bother downloading the movies you want to see anymore, Countless sites to watch them and if you want download them. Bit off topic, But gotta give the Band KISS or better yet Gene his props. Yea they came out with a new C.D. But at the same time while selling it only through wallmart you can find all kinds of Kiss Shirts, and Blankets and Action Figures. So yea you may take a pass on the C.D. some may even download it, But hey christmas is getting close how about a nice Kiss Jacket for that Kiss fan on your shopping list. Cant download that. Buy away. I think Gene could come up with a way to go to the bathroom and somehow make money doing it. Oh wait, Cell Phone. HA.

I will try to be a bit more specific. A few others in town have told me they have the same problem. Use 60 watt bulbs, Even went through the bulbs that were supposed to last 3 years went out in a month. Never saw a bulb burn out. Have to replace one about every 6 months or less. They dont stay on 24/7 Never saw them get dim or to bright. Just seems they wear out kinda fast. Think I am getting tiny voltage drops or spikes. The bulb never gets Really bright or dim just seems to wear out. Talked with one guy that said he has had to put power conditioners in homes before. My old computer had the power supply go bad. Replaced it then got some strange problems with the keyboard, power button going bad. Got a new tower. Its a week old. All the hardware worked fine in the new tower. Video card, Ram was fine. Just seems like a power conditioner may not be a bad investment. 70 bucks may prolong the life of my computer and prevent any damage. Who knows for sure. Wish there was some software I could put on my computer to monitor for any voltage spikes and or dips. Offer a way to post a 30 day run of any spikes or Drops so someone allot smarter than me could take a look and see it all is well or there are some issues. May google around for that when Time allows. Im just so clueless with this end of computing.

Ok not long ago I made a post about the strange problems I had with my computer. Keyboard, Power button going bad. Now the House I live in for whatever reason eats light bulbs. Someone in another forum Suggested a Power Conditioner for my computer. Its supposed to stop voltage spikes that a surge protector may not. I have a decent surge protector. Did not see that. Well I would guess they would allow it. Probably have to call for a new number or whatever. I can imagine with all the oems they will sell, If they only allow one motherboard install then They will simply find away around it. I have no idea how they do that. Thats my story and I am sticking to it.
