  1. Since this question was asked in a previous thread, it may answer a few questions some of you may have regarding the business service tiers so below are the current and new speeds for the current workplace service tiers. Current Speeds New Speeds Teleworker 5Mbps/512kbps 8Mbps/768kbps Standard: Teleworker 6Mbps/768kbps 8Mbps/768kbps Enhanced: Workplace 5Mbps/512kbps 6Mbps/768kbps Standard: Workplace 7Mbps/768kbps 8Mbps/1Mbps Enhanced: Please note that there will be some restructuring of the business class tiers so please check with the workplace website (http://work.comcast.net) for additional information once the speeds are fully launched nationwide by the end of summer.
  2. If you are an HSI-only customer, the service/price chart remains the same. If you subscribe to Comcast Digital Phone or Comcast Digital Voice and HSI, the service/price chart remains the same. But if you subscribe to any Comcast Cable TV service, you will automatically be upgraded to either the 6Mbps/384kbps (silver) or 8Mbps/768kbps (gold) tier of service. These changes allow limited basic TV subscribers to to qualify for the speed upgrades at no additional charge. Appologies for the earlier missed update to the above pricing structure. The HSI-only tiers above were former listed as follows: As of August 19th, a change was made to the HSI-only prices which are now shown correctly in the first post of this thread: 4Mbps/384kbps - $57.95 6Mbps/384kbps - $59.95 8Mbps/768kbps - $67.95 ________________________________________________ e.g.: If you do not have cable TV, your speeds will not be upgraded for free. Notice that the 6Mb plan is only $2.00 more than the 4Mb plan.
  3. If I read it right, I believe I did you will not get the upgrade. So basicly not being a TV subscriber the prices listed below are your choices I can see how it sucks, but that's the way big companies work.: 4Mbps/384kbps - $57.95 6Mbps/384kbps - $59.95 8Mbps/768kbps - $67.95 So if you currently have the 4Mb plan, the 6mb plan is only $2.00 more. That doesn't sound too bad, IMO.
  4. EDIT: BTW, from the looks of the reg key work around that was posted, it looks like it just bypases some files. Your files are still compressed, if there are any.
  5. From Windows Help: To display encrypted or compressed NTFS files in color Open Folder Options in Control Panel. Click Start, and then click Control Panel. Click Appearance and Themes, and then click Folder Options. On the View tab, select the Show encrypted or compressed NTFS files in color check box. Note When you select this option, the names of encrypted or compressed NTFS files and folders will be displayed in a different color in the folder. _____________________________________________________________________________________________ I think the color is blue. To uncompress a folder, right-click, select 'Proereties'. Click on 'Advanced'. Uncheck 'compress contents to save disk space'. Or to uncompress all folders at once. Right-click on your drive, select 'Properties, and uncheck 'compress drive to save disk space'. Uncompressing files usually takes a long time, especially if you have a lot to uncompress.
  6. Welcome to the site, Hollywoodx954x Could you post your modem signal levels. go to http://192.168.0.1 (modem config page) and look for a page that has signal levels. Copy them to a post.
  7. Right-click on your drive, Ex. C:, then click on 'Properties'. There should be a checkbox labled 'Allow Indexing Service to index this disk for fast file searching'. Uncheck that box. Click 'Apply'. Note though, this process can take a while after it starts.
  8. If you're on a buisness plan, I'm guessing you have to be transfering a hell lot of bytes to get capped, vs. consumer plans.
  9. This could be a close one. There are currently 13971 members. If 49 people per day join, I'll be right. 147 per day have to join for Sept. 7
  10. If only that were true. See this topic for that exact topic.
  11. I had the same problem too. I solved part of it, by making sure no files or folders are compressed. Compression does slow down your preformance, since every time you want to use a certain file it has to be uncompressed. I also turned off indexing service.

  13. Remember Freedom Fries, Freedom kiss (lol, can't think of any others.), etc. a few years ago. People were even boycotting French restaurants. As for the gas compaines revenue going up, I've heard that smaller stations are making $0.01 for every gallon they sell, almost nothing. Some of these smaller places are even closing. So if the big companies are still charging higher prices to make money, how much should gas cost right now?
  14. This reminds me of the yearly increase for cable tv prices. Anyway I've seen from $2.49-$3.29 here in MA. On the news they showed one station with prem. for $3.49. Can anyone say price gouging?
  15. I downloaded it just to get the free registration. Maybe I'll try it some time. FF rules!
  16. I have it. Not the most importent extention, but I guess it can be useful sometimes.

  18. All of this info can also be found at: http://forums.comcast.net/forum.jspa?forumID=29 At this time, the following markets are the only markets that have officially been confirmed to have the new speeds shown above. If your market is not in this list, please continue to check back in this thread periodically to check for updates. AL - all of AL DC - all of DC DE - all of DE FL - all of FL GA - all of GA IL - all of IL IN - all of IN KY - all of KY MA - all of MA MD - all of MD ME - all of ME MI - all of MI MN - all of MN MO - all of MO MS - all of MS NH - all of NH NJ - all of NJ PA - all of PA SC - all of SC TN - all of TN VA - all of VA WI - all of WI If your market is not in the above list, your market has not yet received the speed upgrade. We will keep this list up-to-date with all of the markets that have successfully been upgraded and we ask that you please do not call or use live chat to contact Comcast to inquire when your city will receive the upgrade. Our customer service representatives will not have any additional information about when certain areas will be upgraded. Contacting our support lines to inquire about dates the new speeds will be launched in your area will generally increase the time other customers have to wait on hold to receive assistance for technical issues. All Comcast markets are expected to be updated to these speeds by the end of Summer, 2005. f you are an HSI-only customer, the service/price chart remains the same. If you subscribe to Comcast Digital Phone or Comcast Digital Voice and HSI, the service/price chart remains the same. 20. $60 billion!? Where did you hear that? I've heard closer to $26 billion. BTW, Andrew was $22 Billion.
  21. This post may help explain Comcast's bandwiths usage policies I got this from the Comcast forums. It's from four messages posted by a Comcast tech in the topic linked below.: http://forums.comcast.net/thread.jspa?threadID=42887&tstart=0 Posts: 3,241 From: [email protected] Anon38635, Comcast monitors the network in your area and if there is an exuberant amount of bandwidth being consumed on your node, Comcast will pick out the bandwidth hogs on that node and warn them to decrease their usage or sign up for a higher tier of service. So basically, there is not a limit on how much bandwidth you are allowed to use and we recommend that you use the Internet for what you want without worrying about bandwidth restrictions. If your usage is found to be excessive and degrades others connected to your node, you will be given a warning first and then asked to reduce the usage within the next 30 day cycle. If usage is decreased to a nominal level, no further action is taken against the customer. But if the excessive use is continued, the account may be suspended for a few months. Hope this answers the question but please post back if you have any additional questions. Posts: 3,241 From: [email protected] Registered: 2/17/04
  22. I'm not accusing you of anything. I'm just reposting what was posted on the official Comcast forums. Maybe too many people are on your node.
  23. According to posts on the Comcast site you have to be downloading a hell of a lot of stuff to get sut off. See my post here for some info.
