Cable hardly goes out on my Comcast either. Once though The Weather Channel and weather.com both went out at the same time.

Are they giving the router to you for free? If so keep it. I would.

They are the same. But if you have a splitter on one of your TV lines, the modem may not work on that outlet. Not always. Take the DNS server outage for example. The 'net went out but not cable tv. You recieve them on the same cable to your house, but they come from different locations.

Try and be patient, the upgrade won't happen over night. It took Comcast almost four months to comlpete the last upgrade, and that was just 5 months ago. With whole country upgrade, the're bound o run into some problems. -

17" NEC MultiSync FE700+ 1024x768, with 16 bit color and 75Hz refresh rate. Any higher resolution and I can't read it well.

I'm not sure if I'm understanding right, but If you're connecting two routers together, you need to change the address on one of them.
