  1. Vanburen, after I noticed that my speed was upgraded to the 6Mb speeds I applied your ver. 7 WinXP cable_DSL 6000 384 1460 mss tweaks. Since then, I've noticed the download tests freezing ramdomly. I went to bbr to see what their recomended rcvwindow should be, and applied that. It seems to be working better now. Of course I just restarted my computer, so that may have something to do with it. :::.. 2. I just noticed, we're up to 12089 members and counting. It seems less people have been joining lately though. I don't have a 15,000 member prediction yet.
  3. Yes it is a shame. But the internet has been used for worse things though. Namely child pornography.
  4. A DNS server wouldn't hide your ip address. DNS servers just translate domain names that you type into your browser into ip addreses. As other's have posted, a proxy server is probably your best choice.
  5. I don't find that too suprising. Someone eventually was going to find out how to use the internet like that.
  6. You're not the only one. The download test has been randomly freezing for me too lately. Anyone else expering problems with the download test?
  7. My phone uses the "craptacular" WAP protocol. But I don't expect much from a phone with a 1 inch screen. It's a Nokia 3595, BTW.
  8. Welcome to the forums, penguin001 Have you downloaded and used Vanburen's Cablenut settings yet? Comcast just upgraded the speeds from 4Mb/384kb to 6Mb/384kb. That is unless you do not have cable tv.

  10. They could be. I noticed my modem reboot about 10 minutes ago.
  11. Is more than one adapter listed? Sometimes "virutal adaptors" are also listed.
  12. Oh, i see. That makes sense. I just tried it again. Good to go.
  13. That sound's very f-ing stupid. You'd think it would be the opposite, someone trying to steal cable. The service that is, not the cables themselves.
  14. Comcast is in the process of upgrading everyone from 4Mb to 6Mb and 6Mb to 8Mb. You can read more in this topic.
  15. Are you using a router? Because your first hop shouldn't time out.
  16. Welcome to the site, johnnyboy. If you are getting the speeds you paid for, you don't need to call them unless you want higher speeds. A higher speed tier (package) would cost extra.
  17. I've used the one from broadbandreports.com. I don't know how accurate those tests are on my WAP internet since You have to tell it when the file is done. It's not automatic.
  18. Nah, it's ok I was just wondering. No sense in moving a topic back and forth.

What php said. BTW, that info is a little old. I'm a mod now. "To protect and sever serve."

  22. Just wondering, why did you move my post? This is the Show off your scores! board.
