  1. Once you delete a file from your hard drive, yes you do get that space back. Unlike, optical discs, hard drives can be written to and erased hundreds of thousands of times.
  2. If the other modem (motorola) is getting 6Mb, then I wouldn't think there is a problem on your line. Something could be wrong with the modem (Webstar). You can usually exchange it within 30 days at where you bought it.
  3. Results on Yahoo! seem to make me think its Real Player. http://myweb2.search.yahoo.com/search?p=XING+Technology+Corp&ei=UTF-8
  4. I was looking at the product page for your router. Did you possibly press the uplink port button by mistake?
  5. Looks pretty good. That is if you're on the 4Mb plan.
  6. If I understand right, you had the Webstar plugged in and got 6Mb on it. Then you unplugged it , then plugged in the Motorola, and they said you were getting 4Mb?
  7. Welcome to the forums, ojo80 Two questions: 1. How long did you leave the Webstar connected? Because sometimes it can take a couple of days to get registered right. 2. Are you connected via ethernet or USB?

  9. Then you will automatically get upgraded to the 8/768 package. If you have cable tv, there won't be a price change. If you don't have TV, I'm not sure if you'll be "grandfathered" in or not. At least, that's how I understand it.
  10. No I do not have the tilt function. If I click the wheel in a program other than Firefox it changes from up-down to left-right.
  11. Yea, MA isn't on the list either. I'm guessing it will take around two months for the upgrade to be completed.
  12. My back - foward (button 4 & 5) do work in FF. My mouse wheel doesn't move side to side.
  13. Well, I just double checked my settings. Left - right does work in IE, cmd, etc., But not Firefox. I don't know much about the settings in about:config, but maybe there's something there.
  14. They probably will. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't. I just guessing, but small buisness' probably care more about reliability than speed. I also don't think they announce business speed upgrades as much as do, consumer ones.
  15. If you read my other post that I copied from the Comcast forums, it seems like if you have "limited basic" or no cable tv, there are 3 tiers, 4Mb, 6Mb & 8Mb. If you have the regular "expanded basic" or whatever they call it where you live, 4Mb won't be available. I'm sure gonna miss 4Mb..... NOT

We'll also be telling our kids: "Well in my day, we used a phone line to connect to the internet at 1000x slower than you, and we payed for it by the hour." "(then to self later):Damn kids today, they don't respect older technology."
  17. In FF, I scroll the wheel, the page scrolls up & down. I click the wheel, it scrolls the same way, but slower. Click again & repeat. If I'm using IE, it will scroll up & down, when I click the wheel in IE, it scrolls left - right. I hope that was clearer.
  18. I think it would be handy, especially for those of that help with speed tests, if we had a list of ISP's along with their speed plans and the prices for those plans. Just a thought
  19. You can find some very good reasons here.

I don't remember what the speed was. Are there even any nics built for that kind of speed? I know there are 10/100/1000 adapters.

In 2015? Yea, I'd say around 10Gbps is very possible.
  22. I forgot to mention, I tried that. That just controls how smooth/fast the window scrolls up and down.
  23. Some more info from the Comcast forums: To all, As many of you may have already seen or heard, Comcast will soon be upgrading speeds again. The new speeds that will be offered are 6Mbps down/384kbps up and 8Mbps down/768kbps up. These speed upgrades will begin later this month in central and eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New England, Maryland, Michigan, and Washington, D.C. We are committed to having nearly all Comcast HSI markets upgraded with these new speeds by the end of the summer. New Service/Price Chart With these new speed offerings, Comcast will be offering the High-Speed Internet at the following tiers of service. If you currently do not subscribe to any Comcast Cable TV or Comcast Phone services, you will have the following options for HSI available to you: Down Up (Mbps) (kbps) Price 4 384 $57.95 6 384 $67.95 8 768 $77.95 If you currently subscribe to Limited Comcast Cable TV service or Comcast Digital Voice, the following HSI options are available to you: Down Up (Mbps) (kbps) Price 4 384 $42.95 6 384 $52.95 8 768 $62.95 If you currently subscribe to at least Comcast Expanded Basic Cable TV service or above, the following HSI options are available to you: Down Up (Mbps) (kbps) Price 6 384 $42.95 8 768 $52.95 Modem Compatibility If your current cable modem has been in service for more than 4 years, there is a chance that your modem may not be able to achieve these new speeds. Of the list of Comcast-approved modems (see this FAQ for the list), the following modems have been tested with these new speeds and have been determined to not be able to achieve these top new speeds: Max Modem Modem Download Brand Model (Mbps) Motorola SBG1000 4.3 Motorola SB3100 (OS: VxWorks 5.3.1) 4.9 Motorola SB4100 (OS: VxWorks 5.4) 5.8 Terayon ECM615 3.8 Thompson/ DCW615 5.4 RCA Toshiba PCX2000 4.9 So if you are currently renting one of the above-listed modems from Comcast, please contact your local Comcast office to find instructions on how to upgrade your modem to a newer model. If you currently own one of the above modems, you may want to consider renting a modem from Comcast for a $3/month cost or replace the modem with a newer model in the FAQ list of approved modems above.
