  1. yeah its driving me nuts, i just dont know what to do about it.
  2. eh, i think the government shapes the country. we have plenty of laws around now that weren't around in 1776 that create our lifestyle, which was created through the legislation of our government. but don't get me wrong, i am very happy to live here, we have many privileges that a lot of other people don't. i don't agree with the whole 'god given rights' thing, since there are no such thing as rights. there's no rule that says anyone deserves anything when they're born, some people are just lucky and are born in the good ole USA
  3. and it just started lagging on the startup as well, it never did that before. it took 5 minutes to load up my desktop icons and such. I just restarted it and it worked the next time.
  4. hmm, now that you mention it i did have to download a driver for my mothercard to enable internet access, and now my firewall constantly is blocking LAN access from something that it wasn't before, and hotmail keeps making me refresh it because multiple users are logged in.
  5. i dont know where to begin with checking my drivers..is there a scan i can run that detects outdated or incorrect ones?
  6. Hello everyone, Maybe someone here will have an idea of whats wrong with my computer. For a long time now it has been freezing up and crashing sporadically.. I've been through 2 reformats, I've added fans to the case and I monitor the temperature of the PC, nothing appears to be overheating.. I upgraded my video card and it still crashes, on the old one and the new one.. I put 2 more sticks of RAM inside the case for a total of 4 sticks, all the same kind. I've been trying to find a pattern in the crashes, and the only one thats cropped up is the past few times I've tried to put the PC in standby mode it has crashed..then it took a really long time to boot up again. I'm running windows xp.
  7. yeah, i can now access the routers interface, but it still isn't working.
  8. ugh, i been through the linksys support line 2 times, they managed to fix it for about 2 minutes the second time. it still doesn't work with wireless or wired. now i have some sort of virus or malware on my computer, every time i run a virus scan it freezes halfway through with avast!. nothing else picks up anything malicious. im about to just give up and buy a new router, then reformat the computer.
  9. ok, an update.... i upgraded the firmware on the router, and did another hard reset, and now it works with the LAN connection. . . however, when i turn on my laptop, it says there is an ip conflict on the network, and both computers become unable to access the internet.
  10. ok, im going to try this with my desktop PC, because the router isn't working here either.
  11. the weird thing is, my laptop says its connected to the wireless router, and the router isn't even plugged in to the modem.
  12. this didn't work either. now my router isn't working even with a LAN connection, no matter what settings i have it on.
  13. thank you for the pictures GEX! unfortunately it didn't work
  14. i got pissed after calling the linksys support line, and just kept it offline for a few days. now my desktop pc doesn't even work with the router while its plugged in directly. it's friday now and i'm in a better mood, so tonight i will go through your suggestions and try them out. thanks a lot for all your help guys, i will let you know how it works out! p.s. i am using windows xp on both comps
  15. i think patriotism, in the extreme, is just as bad as extremist religious beliefs. blindly following orders. i guess it's necessary to think this way in our current situation. once we kill everyone else that thinks differently, maybe we can get beyond the concept of patriotism, and become one thing. humankind.
  16. i dont see anything that has to do with linksys even installed on my comp
  17. i can't even get to that login. in the past i was able to, but for some reason it does this every time:
  18. this is whwat im trying to do # Open a web browser (such as Internet Explorer or Netscape) # When the browser opens, go to the "Address" bar and input the IP address of the Wireless Router (The default IP Address is 192.168.1.1). # A "User Name" and "Password" prompt will appear, leave the "User Name" field blank and input the Wireless Routers password (The default password of a Linksys Router is admin) into the "Password" field. it never prompts for a user name and pasword. it just doesn't load the page, it says this Connection Interrupted The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading. The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again.
  19. i dont know how to do that. ill look into it. thanks!
  20. i never installed anything from the router on the laptop, it always just picked up the wireless signal. ill see if that helps, thanks!
  21. thanks for your help. i've been power cycling it for a day without any luck. it's weird that the laptop says its connected, but there is no internet activity.
  22. yes, i have done that. it wont let me connect to the IP address to test the password. the only place i can enter it is through the CD-ROM that came with the router, and once it gets to the part where it shows the password during setup, it just doesn't take, no matter what i use.
  23. this problem is driving me crazy, i have searched all over the net to resolve this bullshit, i even did a hard reset for the router, and its still not working. my wired computer internet is working fine, and its connected through the router. it wasn't working, but when i reset the modem, the wireless now does not work, and this one does. my wireless computer says it has a full internet connection, but in reality it doesn't. it connects to the router, the lights are on, but there is no internet activity going on. i did a hard reset on the router, and popped in the CD to set the password up and all that. but now it won't take the password i used, and it won't take the default password for the linsys router, which is 'admin'. when i type in the IP address of the router to configure it that way, the page does not load, it always says connection timed out. i'm about to break this stupid thing. does anyone know whats wrong with it?
  24. actually, they are SATA hard drives on different channels. i think they're ok, because dr. watson postmortem debugger showed up and my computer froze, and it's freezing periodically. maybe it has AIDS, i hope its not a hard ware issue
  25. hey guys, my shit is fucking up and i noticed upon a reboot that both of my internal hard drives are set as masters. is this fucking my shit up? if so, is there a way to fix it?
