With the 7000 coming out you would be way ahead to wait IMO. The testers I know say it will run circles around the 4000 and 6000...

I noticed most are using more than one firewall for instance. Actually you can run DW without a firewall even with windows. I do, but I'm on a UNIX system so by the time someone gets by NOC my system has them totally confused.. The other thing is transmitting with larger packets and less errors. Here's a recent screenshot example.

I don't think being close will help the internet much. Too small of a transponder footprint. Most geosynchronous

I have Charter here in a rural area at the end of their line and my Direcway speeds run circles around Charter. My upload is better than most.. Where are you coming from??

For me it's just the opposite. I had Charter here before I had Direcway. When Charter was up it wasn't much more than dialup speed. I threw the cable out in the street and told um to come and get it. I live on the east side of the Sierras with the local third world Verizon telephone co. So it's nice to have something faster than Charter.

My other transponder on SM5 runs about 85 but even down to 50 in bad weather speed is not affected..

I could make one up. I'm using software called Freefall (Mac) which is a satellite simulator in real time. Just a screen shot..

Sometimes we satellite geeks wonder why the signal doesn't do what we want. If you put SM5 in a picture with true perspective you have to wonder how we have any signal...
