Not for the customer. It is good for the ISP, since they can set the cap to anything, normally lower. Good ISPs (such as Cox) set it higher than the advertised speeds. Crappy server?

Uncapping removes the cap from your modem. Mine is set at 2560 Kbps for example, your should've been at 4000, but other Cox uses get above that too. CA3LE should know more about this. That certain server problably kicked you off, since there's no real reason why you can't play online at all with such speeds. That's the trick: It doesn't. You have to open Paint, or some other image editing program, paste the screenshot there, and save it as a .jpg file.

Your upload has improved right? But your schools (more than one?) are always going to beat you in upload speed. But they pay for it, and you get lotsa speed for less money I'm still waiting for the upgrades that may never come. There's not even a rumor yet.

I could install a speed limiter on this comp, and switch the plugs of both computers on the router. So when he's on, I turn it on, so he gets acceptable speed, and so do I. When he's not on, I get full speed. Of course, I would get kicked off for switching them around, and he would abuse the connection even more, but it's an idea nonetheless.

First tracert: while testing at your site with the 20MB file. Second: while doing nothing on the inet. I just did two more tracerts, one to chello.nl and one more to testmy.net. First hop was just over 30 ms. Sis is on msn now on the new comp, so that was testing for now. I still hate that router. It's so dumb, it could be a hub.
