Looks good, and I hope all your computer problems will be fixed soon.

We have a winner! Now, in order to receive your prize you'll have to tell us what computer and which ISP and your advertised speeds are. The prize is so secret, even I don't know what it is.

There is a test that tests ( ) the number of connections per second a computer can handle. But this test is unique. Let's see: 2560/384 advertised speeds 1 Ghz P3 ZoneAlarm No spyware Ping 160 Speeds tests: 330 - 500 Kbps. Seems low IMHO.
-
I'm speechless, and that doesn't happen often. (just look at my postcount) Amazing.
-
Just so you know, the automatic cut'n'paste link doesn't work. Adding stars to the cut'n'paste isn't that necessary IMHO, but fun. You never told us what speeds give a three star rating and such... What's the most important setting at the new test? The maximum number of connections open at any time? And a higher ping must make a difference.

Thanks to CA3LE for adding it, but I'm curious: What are we supposed to get on that test? First test gave me 330 kbps, and then around this speed: :::.. Page Load Stats ..::: Load Speed:: 507 Kbps or 62 KB/s Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/ Bottom Line:: loaded 10 50KB pages in 7.8 seconds Strange thing is, at the start and end the pages load slower, pages 3 - 7 load like twice or three times as fast as pages 1 - 2 and 7 - 10.

Your RWIN is pretty big, so if packets start to drop, your speed will drop more than normal. Try halving it or so, you might lose a few kbps, but gain on stability. Odds are, that more people are on your node now, that slows everyone down as well. Unless you have a really bad ISP you shouldn't see much of a difference though.

My jaw just fell off after seeing that. Anyone has a spare?

I was also planning on changing the RWIN, because it's setup pretty badly on the new comp. It's too low, so it takes more upload than needed. That could partially solve my problem. Often he's taking all the upload, so doing anything in Q3 takes seconds to transmit, but I can still see what others are doing just fine. Rarely he takes more than 300 KB/s, with 12.5 KB/s remaining for me then, which is just fine. He's using a program called FlashGet to download files, and I don't know if it follows the RWIN and such, or uses its own values. Your program is pretty evil, but I don't know if it's invisible in Windows XP. He's not a computer newbie unfortunatly.

Which is exactly what seems to be happening. And change the "most" to "all".
-
You can host with that, but don't expect the game to stay smooth after more than a few players join. IIRC you need like 128 kbps upload for each player.

9,99 euros for the first 3 months, and 14,99 afterwards. It's pretty cheap compared to spending a lot of time on the internet with dial-up. And you don't have to tweak, because standard settings of Win98 and WinXP can handle those speeds.

No Uncapping means getting a whole lot more bandwidth, and unless you want to pay for it (VERY expensive), earthlink won't uncap your modem.

He and I were planning on testing if the router causes the lower upload, but as usual he's not doing much, other than downloading more movies. It's amazing we still haven't received a warning yet on our use of bandwidth. I went to their website too, and everything seemed to be working. The only speed increase that would be worth for my dad is for download, and that he screws me while doing so makes no difference. That sucks...
-
Complaining to your ISP might help, as well as upgrading.
-
Chello offers quite a lot of different download/upload connections, the lowest is 128/64. They exist.
-
I'm not even sure if programs like that exist at all. Download Accelerator can only help your speed if it connects you to a faster server, or you haven't tweaked enough yet. If I remember correctly it's spyware too.
-
Good speed, but what are your advertised speeds? If you're already at the max there's no point tweaking.
-
Update: Nothing really improved, but now I know when I should be online: at 5 am Then and only then I get what my dad pays for. VanBuren: There's no point in tweaking the rate when there's a stupid router around. The comp where my dad is on is plugged in as first, then mine. Whenever dad is on, the router seems to give much more bandwidth to him than he would need. He wouldn't notice if my comp was plugged in first, because I don't take nearly as much bandwidth. Well, I asked, and he said no. FOR NO F*CKING REASON AT ALL!

I'm guessing you have 256 download, since that would make your score really nice. Tweaking rules and so does CA3LE!

Not even all eye candy?! What's this world coming to? I should change my sig to: In search of: Anger management.

Ok, so I won't be able to run them on this computer: P3 1 Ghz Tnt2 384 MB ram But I expected that, since Call of Duty doesn't even work on this one. How would this one do instead? P4 3 Ghz Radeon 9600 1 GB ram Humorous fact: Unreal 2004 demo ran on the old comp. At the lowest settings possible, and I got about 15 - 20 fps. I even killed a few people.

Been a while since you've had maths? Add all ping tests up, then divide by the number of ping tests done. You can use Window's Calc for that.
