just want to let you know thats not intirely true, im about 11,500 feet from the CO and i get 700kbps over my advertised speed (6.7mbps), they all put it RT's so distance on DSL really doesnt matter anymore.
You can't open up ports in a cable modem they have no firewall built in, its not like a DSL modem.
if that did nothing you need to check the windows firewall, that is probally blocking it.
try the attached file. and when you go to do a speed test do this test and clear your cache before you do the test.

Its actually more on the OS, motherboard manufactors have been limited by 32bits max of 4gb of ram. They are no longer limited by that low number so you are starting to see boards what support 8gb. and thats because 64bit is becoming more widely used.
Mtal1ca the short quick answer is you will not notice any difference in the way anything runs from 2gb to 4gb, unless your doing heavy 3Ds Stuido Max, or Very Large Photoshop Files.
tommie its the other way around, the turbine car was slow, there was a giant lagg from the turbine speeding up. And it never took off because productin costs were too high, thats why only 50 were built.
its the rate at whitch the modem is connected to the DLSAM at. Your modem is just connected at a higher rate then most. Did they give you a black westel 6100 modem?
