since its a highschool its quite a bit different, your most likely not going to be able to do it, because the schools firewall will not allow you in, when your outsitde the network.

a vpn is the only really good way to do it, any other way will just open up too many holes.

i wish i could do that as well, it takes me 25min to download that much.

swimmer they wont go into the recycle bin unless the files were deleted on the computer that they were actually on, as far as a file recovery goes you have to run it on the computer that the files were actually on.
