AOL continues to loose subscribers because they suck. the charge you $10 extrax a month to use aol with your exsing broadband connection, and since most broadband connections cost $40-$50 a month its just way to much money. you can get verizon FIOS for $49.99 a month and get more speed then ever. and still use your AOL IM.

if the internet is going through a router and then to the PS2 you should'nt have to enter a username and pass. use the DHCP whare you don't have to enter a username and password. On my PS2 i use a DSL connection using PPPoE and it is going through a router so the PS2 is on DHCP so i don't ned a username and password.

No theres no such thing of ADSL 2 its going to be a VDSL (Very high bit rate DSL) connection which has a max of about 20/10MBPS

actualy ca3le it does accelerate actual file downloads, when i download from a really good server with not that many people on it like my server what has a average of 70 people on it. it would normaly go at about 800 - 900KBPS but when i install the google acelerator downloads increased by about 500KBPS

when i got mine the first time, i rented a modem and the box was wet and i droped it. The modem broke, adelphia charged me 79.99 for that POS Modem, so thats wy i got the dlink modem.

buy a modem no question, if you rent a modem and break it you have to pay for it. ampz the reason most people don't likes PPPoE is because, when DSL was first introduced you had to enter your username and password when you first got on your computer to get on the internet. So it was like you were back on 56K dialup. Now what HaloBox said is not true, PPPoE is more secure because it requires a user name and password to use the internet where as DHCP does not required to have a username and password. for example i have adelphia HSI and i can take my cable modem and go anyware in the world and use it as long as im on a adelphia system. you can do this because the mac ID and SN# are stored in a database at the global CMTS, since cable has no distance problem, where as with PPPoE system there is a DSLAM every 18500ft so your mac id and SN# can't be stored at a global system like with DHCP. Also DHCP Is shared so you and you neighbor are on the same line, as with PPPoE you on a dedicated Phone or Fiber line so the internet signal will only work at the specified address at the DSLAM.

daserb i think that you singed up for the 4mb/384kb plan and someone mistakingly had you on the 6mb/768 plan but when you started seeing the decrease in speed, comcast on there end fixed it, meaning someone realized that you were on the wrong plan so they switch you back to the 4mb384kb plan ware you were suppose to be.

your right on with your cap i wouldn't tweak it but if you must use TCP optimizer to start and if you still want more speed use cable nut to tweak the finer points of the connection.

That server is down i tried it and it was over 90000kbps so i got no score. irontoes try one of the regular servers and see what you get.
