ok, so i guess i posted these speeds as a kind of [glow=red,2,300] joke [/glow] i'm on a huge network behind a proxy and junk, on a unique commercial rr package these speeds are pretty consistent i was just mostly looking for a reaction, i'm terrible that way ...i know, very funny....

sounds like it could be a modem issue, or possibly outside lines...either way, ISP should hook you up righteous

btw (i know, dbl post)...but is there a way to find out a member's ISP, etc. without having to ask them? just wondering....

hey Philip....who is your ISP, and in what geographic region are you located? Modems will get hot if there is not enough room for proper ventilation, and that may cause connectivity issues....but that is a good modem and shouldn't be losing bloc syncs or dropping connection too often

I'm not big on getting brown on my nose, but I think .s1 is only doing his job as a mod....this is a technical site offerring help to people with technical problems....if there have been threads that are non-technical that have been allowed it is as a privelege that we should be thankful for, and not childishly upset when they are closed because they have been taken too far....keep it in perspective y'all!

yeah thanks peeps...i will try the external monitor, i think my roomate's might work....it seems that the backlight on the monitor is not coming on, and i can hear the HD spinning but it doesn't seem to be making any thinking noises ( )....i think it has an 8MB ATI laptop video card, i'm not sure if its PCI or integrated....i'll check it out and get back to y'all...thx for the responses

Hey all...ok so I have an Acer laptop...the thing is designed poorly and has overheated very easily since i got it...so I removed the cover and cleaned it out with air to help with the circulation (which I have done once before)....now it won't boot up I can hear the hard drive start...everything is seated properly....but there is no display....i'm wondering what i might have done, and how i can fix it....i'm sure I can find the cd, but i'm thinking something hardware....any suggestions would be muchly appreciated, thx!

its a great way to procrastinate at work anyway!
