to start you really should have 256 ram but make sure you have your connections settings correct tools internet options lan settings advanced in http proxy settings have 192.168.0.1 then in the port have 87 and exceptions www.direcwaysupport.com;192.168.0.* then check both boxes after you close that out click both proxy serers boxes. that should get you 200-300 more speed

you tested a 896 with the medium and 920 with the largest - i think that proves my point - that is vertually the same speed - medium test is all you need to do to see if you are running badly

When testing the dw6000 576k and 1400k ++ is all about the same - you really dont need to test with anything higher than the medium test - you are just wasting precious mb towards your mb bucket limit :::.. You need at least truely 256 ram for the dw6000 - regardless of what they say 3. Signal strength is truely 10 points less then you control panel says - the bottoming out of signal strength is 44 NOT 34 anything under 44 and your direcway will not work. 4. During the year your dw6000 will run better than others. -reason i am not sure but seems like direcway gives extra power to satellites at different times and then rotates that power throughout the year. - this is just a guess at what i have observed. 5. Make sure you are not running a bunch of programs in your startup. Just run the basic 8 to 10 that you need ANYTHING running in background will slow you up badly. 6. Dw6000 runs best with a fresh installed computer and ALL spyware removed etc.. 7. Your mhz speed on your computer (if you have nothing running in background and other programs) doesnt effect your basic dw6000 surfing or downloading speed - Fox ex a 3.0 mhz or a 400mhz computer will download at the exact smae speed. 8. REGARDLESS of what your download box says with explorer 6.0 (if it says 200 busst then drops to 117 etc.) it is off. Doesnt matter if it says 300 then drops off to 109 - it is all the same rate) explorer 5.0 shows the actual speed more acurately. 9. MAKE SURE that your dw6000 dish is clear on ALL sides top bottom soide to side at about 10 degrees with NO obstructions - ie limbs leaves (i had some problems with leaves on a limb just to the left of my dish's pointing up to the sky in the evenings in simmer the leaves flipped over and i really did get some signal flux) so 10-12 degrees CLEAR on all sides is important. 10. Make sure your proxy setting are correct it is a 200kbps difference. 11. If you DO have an ongoing problem diredway WILL credit you that month for the problem - Yes they do do it because I have had it done. 12. BE SURE YOUR CROSS POL IS NEVER FAILING. 14. Fog and Thick clouds are more deadly then rain and snow on the dw6000 Even THICK patchy clouds will stop your signal. 15. If your Dw6000 is not working the #1 cure is time. Most often if it is a sporadic problem there is nothing you can do but wait. good luck all.

For some reason i couldnt reply to your problem but here it goes - Sounds like a security setting on your explorer - if you are using a windows based program go to tools -internet options - security and change your settings to default (or at security go to custom level and make sure your file download is checked as ENABLE - hope this helps

I have been watching the ol dw6000 lately and between 7 pm - 11:30pm seems to be very slow (i usually have consistant 1000+ download speed) What seems to be running ok is web page browsing and UPLOADS seem to be much better - which i have never experienced before - usually when the downloading is slow so is the page browsing and uploads but since Monday the downloading of files between 7 -11pm eastern time is slow -(but page surfing and uploads seem better) then it seems to come out of it and run fast again. anyone else? i think they are updating - has anyone called and confirmed this? let us all know - good luck to all

I have watched the board for awhile and have seen some questions about routers and the dw6000 - while in fact I truely believe you dont really need a router with the dw6000 here is a router I use that is compatible with little fuss for the dw6000 - Netgear 4 port Router RP614v2 - ji have found this router to be easy to use and good with the dw6000 - remember however, the dw6000 runs best without a router.

basically dial up speed is all based on your actual phone lines and how far you are from the server- My dial up is at best 24k and i too have a new modem and 56k service - nothing you can do -if you already have a v.92 modem then that is about all you can do.

When Opec bases the oil supplies on the Euro instead of the dollar we in the U.S. will see a HUGE gas increase - est $8.00 -10,00 a gallon and will cause our infrostructure to collapse. But to answer your question YES France is an allie - But they are in a nice bargaining position at the moment.

well if you can swing about $600 and $60 a month - you can get rid of that dialup and go with sat. Not the fastest on earth but instead of 2kb a sec you will get 125+- kb a sec.

I am still not sure exactly what you mean jewels - you say that you tesetd the cross pol and after a few trys it passed - it should pass everytime (failing only once in a great great while based on weather or conditions when running the test - only run it with clear skies) however if your cross pol passes only once after 3 or 4 tries it needs to be adjusted! plain and simple. Also BE SURE your dish is free about 10 degrees top bottom and side to side - make sure there is nothing such as a limb etc.. within 10 degrees on all sides of the sighting. I have a limb that in the summer when leaves ae on it at night when the leaves turn down or there is alot of dew the signal becomes interferred with- Be sure that the line of sight is clear and clear with 10 degrees to spare.

just run the automatic i wouldnt run the maual - manual is good if you are at the dish and pointing it manually. if you pass with a 71 etc.. the cross pol is most likely fine 71 is a good score - mine is 70-85 at any given time - if it was 60 or lower it would be a problem

Here is how to do your cross pol test go to your control panel (DirecWay control center) http address - then after the / add... fs/advanced/advanced.html to to your advanced DW control center - on left side near bottom you will see SETUP click it then click ANTENNIA POINTING next (do NOT check the enable OPI box just click next) just click next then NEXT again - preform the test - be sure to click EXIT after the test is preformed. If it fails run it again - fails run it again your transit light and system light should go out while the test is running - if it continues to fail try preforming it till it passes once it passes once click finish and EXIT and eerthing will be fine except if it fails you are going to need someone to repoit the dish manually because your cross pol should NEVER fail - if it does then your speed will pause and lag. - if you cannot pass after trying power cylce down the modem , good luck

My signal strength is rarely over 60 (usually 55-60) However if your cross pol is good then snow and rain should not effect your signal strength by more than 5 points (as long as snow doesnt build up on your dish i have to sweep mine off during storms ) FOG FOG FOG however is a killer so if you live in an area with lots of usually thick clouding or FOG then your signal will suffer - good luck all

What i have seen is that the #1 problem with new dw sat installations and you having slow speed is incorrect cross pol - go to dw advanced do this by going to your dw system control http address then add /fs/advanced/advanced.html to the end of your contro, center address that will bring you to advanced click on setup then antenna pointing (dont check the enable opi) click next then check your signal streght if you want then just click next - that will cause the transmit and system light ot go out (dont freak) and it will run a cross pol test. then click exit when done. if it fails this is your problem - you need to call direc support and tell them cross pol is failing and dish needs to be repointed MANUALLY by your friendly dircway installer. FREE to you for first 15 months i believe. good luck

i run internet cleanup (cheap program that i got for free with rebate) it deletes and not only deletes but overwrites your catcheted stuff.

Glad to see you checked your cross pol - very important to having a pasing cross pol otherwise your connection with stall and lag- Even if the cross pol is failing once in awhile it shouldnt- remember cross pol has nothing to do with your signal strength as you see it. Go to advanced and check your cross pol (by running cross pol test) and be sure it passes - if not then try running it until it passes and then call support - dish needs to be aligned.
