  1. It's just MS trying to get peoples attention to the fact there are trying to release a stable OS , they havent had anything since XP, how many years has that been ? It's kinda strange, thats all I'm saying. If there's anyone that has ever seen, done, or knows of someone hosting a party for the release of an OS , please stand up and be counted.
  2. Cool, you set the static Ip in preferences > network > then depending on the connection, probable ethernet, click advanced, then in the "tcp/ip tab " hit the drop down menu for " configure IPv4 " and set that to manually " type in the IP that is within your range , with the subnet your using, if it;s default then it will be 255.255.255.0 , and the router or gateway will be the routers IP . You'll have to go into the router , and set the same IP you set in there mac the same. You have me on the "built in ftp " because Iv'e always used a third party software, so maybe you can fill me in on that once we get this done.
  3. well if nothing has changed on the system you were accessing before, then set a static IP on the machine your trying to access, you'll also need to open the proper ftp ports in the router and forward them to that machine. What ftp server are you using on your machine , just out of curiosity.
  4. Awesome that yo finally found testmy.net. I'm sure it will come in when you need something quick, as well as you assisting us in issue
  5. I have no idea about now, but say 8 years or so ago those "converters" stunk on ice. Yea, this week has been strange for my "stuff" too, put a new system together, moved the old ( 6 month old) board and well, everything but the PS to a new case, seriously, the power switch went bad on the old case, a real nice antec case, super nice, I didn't believe it when I read you had one go bad as well. Then, the new / old stuff , that is just moved, wont install the OS, I get this error right here > BSOD " IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" all the zero's and then "0x80523E78" it installs the system files, then as soon as xp installs the devices , BAM, every time. I tried two different OS disks , and two different SATA drives, set everything to defaults on the MB, same thing, changed the memory out, same thing, I'm stuck ! Looked it up and something about bad driver or something , dunno Never seen that one. So yea, whats up
  6. If FTP is what you want to do, then there are several different client/sever's, but if you want free , nd reliable, then go with filezilla, works good. I don;t know if that is the way you were doing it before, are you familiar with installing FTP as a server ?
  7. Rare thanks If you can stand to watch the video, I had to , I couldn't stop myself, it was like i was being programmed by a creature from a land far far away , I didn't even realise that the video was over, I dunno how much time had passed, could have been a whole day dunno but there was a lot of drool left on the desk below my face ........ :haha:
  8. You have to really appreciate the length that Microsoft went to , to think up this type of advertising, a "windows 7 launch party " ? Seriously ? :haha: If you are that much in love with windows , and windows 7, then this is for you, I hope to see you, and your guests have a fantabulous time chucking down orderves of various types whilst discussing how to use products such as bing, might want to grab the bong instead j/k .......or am I. :haha:
  9. So does the torrent server keep your IP in a cache for a while saying you have the pieces ? I thought it was "announced" from your local machine that you had them, hmm...
  10. Hmm............ I think I hear my wife calling me :haha:
  11. I dunno why that made me laugh so hard, probably because i remember doing that myself !
  12. We only do that because sometimes people just get funky and see an IP, then have fun scanning for open ports, sounds like you have that covered Maybe check into where the multiples of "svchost.exe" is, I know there needed by several system processes or whatever, but there has also been many reports of virus's and whatnot masquerading as svchost.exe, if I remember right, look for the ones in all caps, and pay attention to where it's location is.
  13. Gotta wonder if there's an "extra" , or loose wire from the PS that got crammed in the side when you screwed it on, any chance of that ? How about maybe accidentally leaving a screw in the case from the install, and slid someplace bad when you moved it. ??? Dude, whats up, I mean I think things will be looking better for me, because you seem to have taken something from me, thank you
  14. Yea crap, there has to be something else that isn't set in there right, maybe the sata wire is messed, or not seated ? Could even be that the drive is plugged into a bad port on the board, ( I know there called something else, but I can't remember what right now ) I'll check back, can't wait to see what it was when you get it.
  15. Man, since I was a mile off, I'm reluctant to forward my thoughts :/ Following your lead here since the memory was not seated properly, maybe unpulg the power, and reseat everything ? Checking everything over and again.
  16. Some times there are two different settings that have to be set, one the HDD settings in the bios might have to be set o native, or IDE, even though you have SATA, two , there could be a setting in the BIOS to "install OS". Check for those first...........
  17. oh sorry , i didn't see that in there .......
  18. You looked in start > programs and or start > programs > tools ? You have to have it there, somewhere man, I know the device you have is gps capable, so there's a small program somewhere to gain access to the satellites. Hmm

  21. goto start programs tools "quick gps " then you could try "mapking" download , if you want , i have not , so if u do lmk edit ........... just looked at mine , it was in programs, where it used to be in the tools menu
  22. thats a good one ! usually its the other way around because the ISP tests within there network. The link here will do some extensive tests nd give you results. please post that . and the rest of the results in there http://ndt.anl.gov/
  23. you said access the computer through the modem , does that mean your trying to set up a vpn , or am i reading that backwards , and you cant seem to access the router ?
  24. Yea i gave up on that a while ago, im not paying for that when those satellites are free to use, they want $ for there program ,sp i settle for googlemaps. not like tom tom or those others , but it works good, and its free. your device should have something called "quick gps " which keeps your location updated , if you have it enabled, then googlemaps will work with that , i think thats how it works anyhow .
  25. you should try googlemaps , free , and good. and this is another reason to explore new roms.
