Well , it does. So much more then using your system for a couple years , then finding out all that time , some scabby prick put a keylogger disguised as a root kit in that song or file you scrapped from a " trusted " source. So your antivirus program deleted the rootkit , but failed to see that 30k file it impregnated that abyss of a bottomless hell of a pit called windows registry. I'de much rather have a reasonable platform to work with, breaking technology for major operating system overhauls through a software portal embedded within the applications folder I can deal with. Wont be long before any and all kinks are ironed out , Apple does everything for a reason. Thats reason is generally a step towards future networking and computing.

True that ! What I do not think he meant to say , is the " all your really going to get is 8-10 Mbps " Personally I would not like to be one of the many that talk to customers at these places , and knowingly lie to them every day for the benefit of the company. Wow

Look out , there's a lot of " I's " in here lol For the last 8 weeks or so I've been with buckey , signed on with there 50 / 3 , seemed to be working " OK " , but gradually went south, within 2-4 weeks. Although i cannot cap out here , I couldn't with RR either so I was not to concerned about it since I was moving satisfactorily . I finally had some time to get with there CS , of course the gal tells me " everything looks great from here " ,she refused to send me to a real tech, so I asked to downgrade the bandwidth package and was transferred . Long of the short , I ended up getting to a tech that escalated the issue, and gave me a time to " max out " my connection as best I could. So I started streaming a movie , opened several windows of youtube with people that had 100 or more videos and hit there auto run, came to testmy.net and set the 200 MB download test in several windows and a couple 29 MB upload connections. Started uploading disk 1-8 of centos x86_64 via FTP to my server in S cali , and a few other things on a couple other machines locally, just to eat up s much bandwidth as possible. Of course most everything puked out after a while. He calls back and tells me his tech said i was running torrents and using a router ( I dont use a router I use pfsense and a cisco 2900-xl-en for the switch ) and i was not running any torrents at the time. They obviously noticed the uploads from FTP and assumed i was torrenting , or is that the standard answer when they cannot locate the issue ? He is pretty much dismissing any issues by insinuating i am trying to share data over a P2P network and claims that because of this massive uploading of torrents , I'm borking my download because of it. Finally he tells me I'm going to get no more then 8-10 Mbps with this connection. Oh , ok , then why do they sell me a connection they cannot supply ? I'll obviously be downgrading to there 10 Mbps connection , since that is all they claim I'm going to get. / rant Fin clowns !!!!!!

I dropped in to start a topic just on this subject. Been reading hundreds of comments in the app store about Lion, it does not look good. And so many people complaining about the same thing. I don't have an iPad or an iPhone , and i could care less for the OS " pretties " , chances are I'll stick with snow leopard for now. People reporting speed decreases and many programs not working any longer , such as office ( I find that one hard to believe right there ) , time machine broken due to a networking issue breaking any NAS. And many more issues. All this has me wondering about installing an OS from within a program, downloaded. eeek , I'll grab a copy once they release the second update of the thumb drives.

New member in Midland, TX (Grande ISP, formerly Suddenlink))
mudmanc4 replied to randallmark's topic in New Members
Hi Randall, good to see your mother is happier with your current service ! I have one question for you , I'm using an Arris modem as well , would you take a look at the specs at 192.168.100.1 , and in the upstream location , tell me if it states docsis 2.0 or 3.0 I'm curious for several reasons, one of which others have told me that using several arris modems , it states incorrectly ( I'm not buying that for a split second btw ) , and I'm building my case to take to my ISP. thanks if you find the time. -
Hahaha..... ok , so it was a turd honkin for the right away

I'll tweet to that , " I crapped out this morning " ................. all the tweetheads happy now ?

Answer is advertising. Maybe not what it was intended for , none the less , traditional TV is gone off the deep end to the abyss . So internet advertising and " broadcasts " are on the rise. Really , thinking of twitter and apps of the likes , well into he future , everyone connected instantaneously , no human can absorb all that data right , so we can only come to the conclusion that these tweets are being stored somewhere and cataloged. Gives social temperature as well as advertisers a direction to head. LEt us not forget government(s). ie. future = 1 governing body. If you join you'll see these random " people " follow you , many times they are tweeting about every subject in the world, like bait on the fish hook. You figure the rest out.

I'll likely wait for sure, as has been stated , this TV thing is in the category of " whatever ". After the spasdic people run out and buy up billions in plastic / electronic trash, mostly because they want there inside house to look like someone else's, then wait for the returns and open box sales. As for the tube TV , it has a great picture, it'll be in the boys game room to live out the rest of it's years. Which could be two , or more then ten lol

Don't feel too bad , the first couple of years are more for the parents anyhow. I think it's more meaningful that you take the time to celebrate and show your family the history and a good time then anything else.
-
Well either way , if I wait a year then the same thing will be 50% cost, or less.

No your exactly right ninja ! Now that Iv'e familiarized myself a little bit I'm more prepared to ask , as well as decide what it is that I do want out of one. And that is precisely how the sales people treat you in the store ( the link I gave ) , they don't rush up to you, they don't try and sell you anything , never have. They wait for you to ask them , if you go in expecting anything else , you'll leave with out ever being approached.

Have fun and try to remember the US is celebrating it's constitution 235 years ago

alucard that sounds close to what I'm looking for , not that I want to spend a grand , but for what I'm looking for there's not much other option money wise is there ? And I'll likely buy local here I'm sure this guy ( where we've gotten everything for nearly 20 years ) will be able to get or has whatever I end up choosing. I seriously appreciate any and all you guys comments and suggestions , I hate << and when is the last time anyone here read me writing that word ? I hate going in to buy something I know nothing about , just " feels " strange. And on the fly , you can't really make an educated decision , you have to know what it is exactly your looking for and what it is your paying. Off to read the reviews !

I know dammit ! lol same as always , buy it today , it's old news tomorrow. But honestly , I keep things like that until there's no life left in there lol There are just too damn many to look at , it's disgusting really. So far I've come to the conclusion that I have to decide what I will be paying , then go looking in that price range you know. I'll likely take a while to decide , although the wife is bustin my ballz to get one , so the boy can take this other one to the family room for gaming.

nt4.0 to 23k upgrade..... with difficulty
mudmanc4 replied to cak46's topic in Networking and Hardware
Have you looked into using Debian as the DC ? Samba supports running as PDC Sounds like trouble I know , but it's worth looking into. I've set one up on a small intranet with multiple platforms and OS flavors, I'm not so sure about how to migrate / or even replication from 4.0 - linux , none the less. Just a thought. -
Being forced , and I mean that in the fullest extent to look at a TV made within the last ten years, why? Maybe because the office is filled with everything a body needs to get through the day, yet during TV night , theres a 25 " tube sitting there. I say so what, it's HD and it works perfect, but others seem to have , well , other plans. It's a waste of money in my eyes for several reasons , but if your on the net much , you know that the world will end in 2012 , and or the new world order will come and take everything we have, and or , the TV will be shut down long side the power and the internet and food . So why buy something now ? lol I'm fairly familiar with the types of models that can be had , and have done quite a bit of reading ( way too much if I'm asked ) on whats the best for this and that , best picture best sound best toaster oven....... wait , thats another thing. Damn chain browsing..... I've seen prices from 300-5000. I'm somewhere in between , towards the floor model and something that can be networked so i can stream my stash of vids and music, stream live internet TV ( browser ) . Doesnt have to be gigahuge , maybe 30 or so, but 1920x1080 is a minimum. Suggestions and experience is key in this endeavor if anyone has any....

Well considering I'm no photoshop guru by any means, after reading your explanation I believe I'm going to learn quite a few things I can use later from this. Thanks D !

So iv'e got the whole warp drop shadow thing to give the effect the page is curling , by creating a layer under the area you want to appear as if it is a page , the selecting gaussian blur and selecting area a little smaller then the div , and rounding the corners with a 2-4 , done. Now I'm looking at something a little different. Say you have a spider on a web, you use drop shadow and it looks as if the spider is hovering over the web. But what about warping the shadows down to the web so it appears as if spider is casting a shadow yet standing on the web ?

Well thats just the thing , with even the slightest power generation you can utilize it for some sort of heat , no ? Not only that, I'm thinking considering the large portion of homes in the heat, it can be very useful. I don't think every small solution will be a one size fits all for some time yet.

Don't go trying to grab up all your friends computers , thats not the windows were talking about , but you could be saving a few bucks by using windows power save settings. It's good to see the company GE involved in this venture , considering there hands are not in much else.............. /sarcasm . But seriously GE is one of the best performing stocks out there dividend wise , and there involvement in new technologies such as BIPV products is just one of the reasons. source

Yes I grabbed the smp client yes i used the smp flag. I was able to get them up to 100% in the end , 490 pnts +- for three days work , something is way wrong. Same thing with the mac , only 59 pnts. So I chucked it all until I have more time to play. Hell I used to be able to assign each core it's own directory and have at it , getting 1000-1600 ppd . I'm thinking they have drastically changed the hardware requirements to strictly high end components only. The way Iv'e got it set up at this point , it isnt returning enough data to warrant running the mac at 200 degrees F , and this HP server blazin hot. It's more self defeating.
