  1. You should be able to set two of them up , I know you can use three of them maximum ( outward ) but you can do more as " spokes ". You might be getting confused as I don't remember the terminology being called repeater , it's more like a wheel / spoke . The ones I set up needed to be connected via cable, but this may have simply been the way that was chosen for this network. You might want to check the initial software setup , you might see where you can set up as repeater.
  2. I dunno , I thought I would have had a lot more time , but thats what the old forum states. But then again I read fast reply fast and on to the next thing.
  3. 365 million tests taken at testmy.net is a rather significant accomplishment.
  4. Seriously that's a lotta involvement from a lotta people. Hard to tell how many of the minutes are mine, looking in on old.testmy.net at that time I had 21 days in. So my guess is maybe one month of my life completely spent at testmy.net

  6. We have those here and there as well, they seem to pop up from seemingly no where , I don't know if you can eat them or not. And thats the name I was looking for. You see them along the freeway in culverts and ditches everywhere. It's good to know what you can and can't eat. I'm gonna have to look up the astromelia see if it's edible.
  7. Found a few on ebay as well. I just make sure what I get is shipped from within the US and has a return policy. Wireless card sony vaio ebay
  8. If your getting singles then just use radioshack for the resistors , ( maybe thats old school but that where I used to get everything ) I dont know if they still have rectifiers or not, they've moved to mostly cell phones and garb of the likes.
  9. Don't feel that way, as if past generations hadn't tolerated it , then current generations would not embrace it. Were all to blame.
  10. Many things, if people don't know already they never will.
  11. And I was wondering why Detroit has a 50% literacy level.
  12. Great explanation . At times I'll use there service for a server as close to me as possible , so i can isolate the issue a bit more , true enough , thier closest server generally gives me very close results to yours here at tmn , imagine that. edit: And that is a 1200 mile difference, let alone a non flash based test.
  13. 14. Welcome to testmy.net foxfifi Have you used the auto test yet ?
  15. Looking into some of these thing for you.
  16. Well as xs1 stated , that is a long way for data to travel , considering it is not nearly all fiber. Sure , the global link is , but think of how many devices that a single packet must traverse through to get there and back. A site such as speedtest , has servers all over the place , so imo , you will get a good test when you test right next door ( as i see from your post ) , see ?
  17. Hi shayes , as tdawn stated , please post what speed you should be getting as well as performing a ping test , that will help get started. To ping a host... Windows Start > Run > type CMD [enter] > from the command prompt type ping google.com and/or ping testmy.net Linux / Mac Under Applications/Utilities open 'Terminal' > type ping google.com and/or ping testmy.net Paste those results here.
  18. I've decided a while ago the next machine i get will be an iMac. Give it 6 months , there will be a better one that will put this one to shame. I don't think Apple releases anything unless they are already manufacturing the next model, or at the least waiting for the test results on the next chip.
  19. Hi TJS , no worries about the other posts , taken care of. As far s the tests , there may be heavy network traffic locally or along your route. Will you perform a traceroute to testmy.net to see where the slow down is and post it ?
  20. Safari OSX This clip shows a refresh. You can see how the text comes in then blips out. This might be a local issue ( my issue ). Although the button images are still present, the text is not.
  21. yes white, and interesting, the text comes in for a split second then poof gone , might be a safari issue. I'm trying to connect it with the safari bug in IPB that does the same thing with the " upload " ( button ) text ( while uploading an attachment to a post ) as it is blank as well.
  22. I don't blame you , I refuse to give any CC # for any trial , let alone anything at all lol
  23. The way I understand it , the mere name of a " cell phone " , comes from the term cellular , which in the sense that the towers are placed. The signal is caught in " cells " , triangulated between at least two towers and most optimally three. This gives the device a unique address as well as location, as the device is moved " you and I travel " the device connects between other towers for connection. My point , this is all nothing new for the last 20 years. My first cell phone was a massive bag phone, weighing approx 5+ lb and sported a full sized corded handset. The antenna was on the device connected to the massive battery held within the bag. I'll never forget the looks I got driving down the road talking on the phone, I do remember one group of peers yelled out the window at me something to the effect of " get a life looser , why did you tear your grandmas phone off the wall PSHYCO " hahaha , not knowing I was talking to my girlfriend lol
  24. I set the test for 30 min , the upload went into a loop I had to cancel it manually.
