Dark_Matter Posted January 26, 2006 Author CID Share Posted January 26, 2006 I have someone i can claim as a dependent when i file or i would not get that much back either. I make to much to get a big refund. If i remember correctly employers must have W2's out to all employees by Jan 31st.

ch34p5hot Posted January 27, 2006 CID Share Posted January 27, 2006 what happens if the employer doesn't get them out?
Dark_Matter Posted January 27, 2006 Author CID Share Posted January 27, 2006 Not exactly sure i just know the deadline for them to have them sent out is Jan, 31st, but i'm guessing an employer who fails to do this will be atleast fined (X) amount of money. At worst, and probably not likely jail time.
Decade Posted January 27, 2006 CID Share Posted January 27, 2006 I hate taxes...and I feel sorry for my older brother. They take out tax money that could be someones salary (like 35k+). He barely gets anything back either.
hurricane_floyd Posted January 27, 2006 CID Share Posted January 27, 2006 A little off topic but.... Last year my aunt got a small 401K settlement from her divorce. She cashed it in early and got charged $200 Federal income tax. She assumed she could not get this back in a refund, so she neglected to file (she is on Social Security Supplemental Income SSI, no taxes). She did receive a 1099-R on it. Recently someone told her she should have filed and got her return. Is this possible considering her income source and if so how would a person do it, file a 1040 for last year even with it a year late? tommie gorman Posted January 27, 2006 CID Share Posted January 27, 2006 Self employed. No taxes out. No money back. But spend plenty out, all year to do this. Realestate.
Dark_Matter Posted January 27, 2006 Author CID Share Posted January 27, 2006 Real Estate is big business my aunt is in the business, and she makes about 200 grand a year or more sometimes.
joelriverap Posted January 27, 2006 CID Share Posted January 27, 2006 Well my Fededal Tax Refund was $3,945 - $115 (Online Tax Filling) = $3,830 and for my state tax (NJ) $876. Total = $4,706 I tried first TurboTax but I didn't like very much, so I tried another tax company which was more expensive so I end up paying $115.00 instead of $35.00 to Turbo Tax. I filed my state tax via New Jersey Tax Website Portal. At least this was free. Joel

Dark_Matter Posted January 27, 2006 Author CID Share Posted January 27, 2006 Nice Refund! I used (TaxCut) from H&R Block last 4 years, and decided to give TurboTax a try this year, and i'm very happy with TurboTax also.
