The Reverend Posted January 18, 2005 CID Share Posted January 18, 2005 You may like FireFox more, yet if you are DirecWay user with a DW6000 modem you are simply stuck with the IE6 Browser unless something changes. No exceptions that I can find plus I have been working on find "speed fixes" for the "Fox" ....so far it just cannot compete for speed against IE with a DW6000. ....and that's the bottom line to that one. I am still pulling down a 100mbps from the link VB moved from the DirecWay forum except I see he forgot to move the link? I'll let him correct whatever it is he wanted to do by splitting this off. Cheers! The Reverend

netmasta Posted January 18, 2005 CID Share Posted January 18, 2005 fixed the link http://nitro.ucsc.edu/ VanBuren The theoretical network limit is 95.45 Mbps The transmit buffer (101.0 KByte) limits the application to 6.76 Mbps Your receive buffer (37.0 KByte) limits the application to 2.48 Mbps The network based flow control limits the application to 2.57 Mbps What is the "network limit" for ? Comcast, my nic? I know it's not the modem. My modem (Motorla SB4220 can go up to 38Mb). Client Data reports link is 'T1', Client Acks report link is 'T1' Server Data reports link is 'Ethernet', Server Acks report link is 'Ethernet' ^ Is that a good thing? click START to re-test Checking for Middleboxes . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . VanBuren Posted January 18, 2005 CID Share Posted January 18, 2005 hey netmasta my guess is that its your default gateway router that has that limit like i said, that was a guess VanBuren
netmasta Posted January 18, 2005 CID Share Posted January 18, 2005 You're probably right. BTW it's a D-Link DI-624, which has speeds up to "108Mbps", although I don't believe it can go exactly that high.
VanBuren Posted January 18, 2005 CID Share Posted January 18, 2005 I have not worked with these stuff, maybe somone else can explain and correct me if im wrong but the gateway is controlled by your ISP, so they can cap you there, and then it dosent matter what router you got home VanBuren
netmasta Posted January 18, 2005 CID Share Posted January 18, 2005 From the test: The theoretical network limit is 95.45 Mbps My router max speed is 108Mbps My cable modem max speed, accordind to the box, up to 38Mb/sec.
VanBuren Posted January 18, 2005 CID Share Posted January 18, 2005 yea its very theoretical, based on buffer size and latency, somehow i think a ISP can control how big buffers that can be used. VanBuren
