cubanmoses Posted April 14, 2007 CID Share Posted April 14, 2007 I have a comcast connection. It's supposed to be 6mbps and 384 kbps. My last test results were 947 kbps and 116 kbps. My xbox live has been suffering bad too. My router is the d-link dgl 4300 which is supposed to be top of the line. I set up the xbox live rules on the router with a static ip on the xbox and i've tried it without the static address. When i played it a few days ago with just the modem it was running fine. i've downloaded cablenut and used the settings in for cable xp. I rebooted and nothing really improved. any ideas would be appreciated.

mudmanc4 Posted April 14, 2007 CID Share Posted April 14, 2007 The first thing I noticed is this: Information: Other network traffic is congesting the link Therefore, something is using bandwidth on your connection. I am no guru as others here, but do this START> RUN > CMD > NETSTAT Look and see how many connections you have alive, and what they are , this may be a good starting point for you. I'm sure someone else will step in , in the mean time : )
rushonbye Posted April 14, 2007 CID Share Posted April 14, 2007 What are your speed results without the rouer in place? Are they the same or did you say they were fine meaning you were getting your advestised speed of 6.0/384...I'm confused..
cubanmoses Posted April 15, 2007 Author CID Share Posted April 15, 2007 i just ran some test with the comp hooked up directly to the modem.... i didn't have an option for 10mb half duplex so i set it to auto. at one point it was running fine but i didn't test it. websites now take a long time to load and i didn't mess with the settings and i had mcafee the whole time. rushonbye Posted April 15, 2007 CID Share Posted April 15, 2007 Well, the levels look great. I would either test with a known good PC or have the cable company come out and test the connection. It could be a bad modem or upstream noise or a PC problem.

saygoodie Posted April 16, 2007 CID Share Posted April 16, 2007 maybe comcast was just having problems at the time, sometimes my Modem would reset for no reason.
keetan Posted April 24, 2007 CID Share Posted April 24, 2007 Upstream signal to noise ratio from the node in your area to the CMTS. It causes bad latency if it's below 30db or abouts. That's not posted in your cm's diagnostics page. Only your ISP can see that.
