coknuck Posted March 31, 2009 CID Share Posted March 31, 2009 I'm not even going to worry about it. It seems every year there is a new scare and some get it and some don't. I run NOD32 and I'm going to let it do its job. Malwarebytes is a good program for getting rid of Trojans and any of those type infections. Don't be like "Chicken Little" and worry about the sky falling before it happens!

zalternate Posted March 31, 2009 CID Share Posted March 31, 2009 There is a cure and I don't know if it was rolled out to standard anti-virus programs, as well, late monday and today.
Shug7272 Posted March 31, 2009 CID Share Posted March 31, 2009 true but its not my work computer im worried bout its my home pc that matters and i guess a day off would be nice also lol True, VERY true. As Zalt said I believe most all of the major antivirus can catch and remove it. I believe AVG can do it just fine.
zalternate Posted April 2, 2009 CID Share Posted April 2, 2009 Just reading Google news and here is a link to two tests to 'generally' see if you are infected with Conficker. There is a test button just below "check to see if you are infected". http://www.confickerworkinggroup.org/wiki/#toc1 Interesting test. So if you even have another virus, you may not be able to get the linked pics from the anti-virus sites to show up. Link to test page itself.. http://www.confickerworkinggroup.org/infection_test/cfeyechart.html And this one as well. http://iv.cs.uni-bonn.de/fileadmin/user_upload/werner/cfdetector/ Less detail though... All from the article of.. http://news.cnet.com/8301-1009_3-10210934-83.html conficker is still alive, but waiting for the attention to dissipate. 'Conficker' Also known as 'Configuration F*cker'. zalternate Posted April 10, 2009 CID Share Posted April 10, 2009 Latest news on Conficker. It's now SpamBot central. So it is generally helpful for those that have difficulty erecting organic matter. And causing the better ISP's to cut the users connection off in only a few hours time of Spam routing. http://www.computerworld.com/action/article.do?command=viewArticleBasic&articleId=9131448&intsrc=news_ts_head April 10, 2009 (Computerworld) Windows PCs infected with the Conficker worm have turned into junk mail-spewing robots capable of sending billions of spam messages a day, a security company warned today. According to Kaspersky Lab, a Moscow-based antivirus firm, yesterday's update to Conficker, which in some cases was accompanied by the Waledac spam bot, has resulted in a floodtide of junk e-mail. "In just 12 hours, one bot alone sent out 42,298 spam messages," said Kaspersky researcher Alex Gostev in a message Friday. "A simple calculation shows that one bot sends out around 80,000 e-mails in 24 hours. Assuming that there are 5 million infected machines out there, the [Conficker] botnet could send out about 400 billion spam messages over a 24-hour period!"..........................
