2smart4u Posted February 24, 2005 CID Share Posted February 24, 2005 ok i think i found a tip to maintain continual good download and upload speeds. ok open up start>Run> enter "command" with out the Quotes. then enter "netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt" also without the quotes this will then reset ur ip settings to default, then after u do that, run ur direcway utility, run it and make sure u select reconfigure settings, after u do that restart ur somputer, then open up ur internet explorer and put back ur proxy to 192.168.0.1:87 then close ur window then open it up again, then keep doing test to see if u get the same results one after another after another. this should work good. please post results P.S. make sure u delete any settings in AFD and leave the to default, make sure u do this before the restart. 2smart4u Posted February 24, 2005 Author CID Share Posted February 24, 2005 yea true, but u knw the difference, well the diff is that, that setting ur telling me about only works with Dw4000 versions, and mine is a DW6000 and mine does not have that on my comp, u see what im saying. but the settings i posted work excellent for me, i had a friend show me that he told me other stuff but i cant post them on them online. i only posted that cause its basic stuff

Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 958 Kbps about 1 Mbps (tested with 579 KB) Download Speed is:: 117 KB/s Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/ Test Time:: Wed Feb 23 21:51:26 PST 2005 Bottom Line:: 17X faster than 56K 1MB download in 8.75 sec Diagnosis: Looks Great : 17.84 % faster than the average for host (direcpc.com) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/id-TGF671PX0 the thing that i forgot to do is check what my speed was before i did this . so cant really tell if it made a diference. btw whats the AFD? and do i have to do this when my speed is slow or just do itonce ? Jewelz_tx Posted February 25, 2005 CID Share Posted February 25, 2005 Direcway Utility?? what is that? and what is AFD? I tried the command you said to enter and it didn't do anything but sit there. so I had to close it out and it said it wasn't responding... They just don't care!! They know there is no other choice for me out here. grrrrr But yes, if you have DW6000... its DWcrap! lol
2smart4u Posted February 25, 2005 Author CID Share Posted February 25, 2005 ok when u open up command, and enter that nothing special is really suppose to come out, all it does is just resets ur tcpip, and the direcway utillity, i reffer to LCCU_4.0.3.12 that u can get from direcway. and all it does is that it adjusts ur settings to suit ur direceway needs, and AFD is located in ur registry start>run>regedit> once u open ur registry go to Hkey_local_machine>system>currentcontrolset>services>AFD then go under were it says Parameter and make sure its all set to default. if u have any more questions feel free to ask
Aggr3 Posted February 25, 2005 CID Share Posted February 25, 2005 So Mr. Dude ....now that you're running at lighting speeds......is that a 4000 or a 6000.....and how fast is it???????????
sst45jeff Posted February 25, 2005 CID Share Posted February 25, 2005 I beleive mr dude reffered to his modem being a DW6000 and that tweak is for the DW6000. Dont try it on the DW4000 or it will mess it up it wont browse to the secure pages and open them.
2smart4u Posted February 25, 2005 Author CID Share Posted February 25, 2005 yes dw6000 is capped at 1mbps, the max i have ever gotten is 146kb/s but usually i get around 124kb/s so anything is possible. yea dont try it for dw4000 cause i dont know much about 4000, only thing i know is that its cappable of sustaining 1.5mbps and for oscar try these settings just followw these simple rules one, open cablenut then two, clear current settings three, save to registry four, load custom settings then save to registry. then restart. and click ur done. JoeOtto Posted February 25, 2005 CID Share Posted February 25, 2005 Was that 1184 Kbps speed on a DW6000? I have never gotten about 1012 or so. Usually 995 with every tweak I can find on here! Which transponder on SatMex5?
2smart4u Posted February 25, 2005 Author CID Share Posted February 25, 2005 yes that was on a dw6000, and yes size does matter, ok to put it in easy terms, if u have a huge gigantic dish that was half a mile long, and this other guy had a 17" dish, and both of u had the same internet company, who do u think would have the best speeds, the big dish or the small, no think teh big dish is able to receive more information, and the small dish is only able to receive so much u cant compare it to a big dish so yea dish size does matter, but like i said speeds can vary.
