Singapore-based World Traveler

Hello there!

Just only found out about TestMy.Net recently. Very helpful set-up that seems to lead to very comparable results. Well done, guys!

Quick introduction: I'm based in Singapore and travelling the world. I'm interesting to test and compare Internet Speeds in the various locations I find myself in. By no means would I describe myself as a computer expert/nerd, but I think I've got the basics.

Thanks for the great work!

Welcome to TestMy.net!

I have just the tool for you.  I released it this morning.

I hope you're up for an Easter egg hunt.  Just remember, the doorway is obvious and easily accessible from the homepage.

I'm done and I want everyone to use it right away but I wanted to make it fun.  I also don't want to explain or talk about it, you either get it or you don't.  My users will get it.

...and you don't have to be a computer expert/nerd    [nerdly]  experts/nerds of all types welcome.  In my experience, world travelers are usually and expert in something.  We'd love for you to share anything on your mind.   ;)

:headbang:   :occasion14:

(sorry about the downtime today, a backup caused issues.  I'm backing up those specific databases a different way from now on to avoid that problem in the future.  Nothing to do with this update... at the core is actually something that's been built into TMN for many, many years.  I expect the release to be stable.)

Does it work with https URLs?  I'm trying https://cinema.technicolor.com/kdmrepo/test.jpg and it looks like it takes it, but when I click "start test" nothing meaningful happens.

That works... but you need a faster connection for larger files. Try a smaller file, like 300 kB. Note that it can turn a tiny file into any size speed test.

I changed the test file to a 300KB one, but I'm still having problems  . Am I doing something wrong?

I'd love to bask in the slowness of the test, but I still can't get it to work, even when clicking links in the provided list.  For example, when I click on https://testmy.net/mX/C0yz1 (googleusercontent.com), I get a blank page when using Firefox on Windows/Mac, a blank page using Safari on Mac, and an HTTP 500 error from IE11 on Windows.

You're right, I broke it.  I'm incorporating TraceMy.net right now... the program was calling functions that only existed if you were logged in under my account.  Sorry about that, I had to logout before I noticed that there was an issue.  Try it now.

Have been experiencing horrible delays, timeouts, etc.. with only locally available (Comcast) provider. Original MyTest results were abysmal, (2 mb's download speeds yet for some reason I'm now getting 20 mb speeds. I cleared history forever and though I lost plenty of saved sites I'm wondering if that may have had something to with it. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Zappenfusen

I doubt that it had anything to do with clearing your cache/history.

They could have improved on Comcast's end... you tested multiple methods and were getting horrible performance.  You've tested the same ways again and your results are better now... across the board.  Looks very nice.  I'd expect that things feel much better now.

Maybe your wifi performance is better now... maybe Comcast has improved the route... could be many things.  Just be happy that it's running better.

Clean result now.
