netmasta Posted April 29, 2005 CID Share Posted April 29, 2005 Well, I use web mail, and never open attachments from people I don't know. So I'm probably safe.
xs1 Posted April 29, 2005 CID Share Posted April 29, 2005 I dont open email attachments unless i know where its from. :- People shouldnt as a general rule.
cak46 Posted April 30, 2005 CID Share Posted April 30, 2005 I generally don't open a attachment unless I'm expecting it. E-Mail spoofing is happening so often now, it's hard to tell whats legit and what isn't (Especially with attachments).
netmasta Posted April 30, 2005 CID Share Posted April 30, 2005 I've heard with some programs (e.g.: Outlook), just using the preview option can cause problems.
Swimmer Posted April 30, 2005 CID Share Posted April 30, 2005 This might be linked to the fact that MS had problems with a security update site that would download a trojan that would hijack your computer.. It was a while ago and I never really heard much about it.. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=1093&e=2&u=/pcworld/120379
cak46 Posted May 1, 2005 CID Share Posted May 1, 2005 I've heard with some programs (e.g.: Outlook), just using the preview option can cause problems. Using preview will automatically run macro viruses within an infected email. Outlook express is also known for this.
coknuck Posted May 1, 2005 CID Share Posted May 1, 2005 I use MailWasher before I transfur anything to Outlook Express. Plus it lets you bounce mail back to the sender and black list mail you don't want. Its a free download. You can go here to read about it or download it. http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0,fid,20000,00.asp

tdawnaz Posted May 1, 2005 CID Share Posted May 1, 2005 Boredom well they say you get what you give...but in this whole internet thing...because of people like that...seems you give what you get and sometimes get what you haven't given...but definately those that have give deliberately will be getting in spades at some point...it's the law (of the universe)...karma karme karma
