Download and install this free software. 2. Open the program and click the Scan buttion. Hijack This will create a log of suspicious files residing on your computer. Don't delete them yet! 3. Copy the log and paste it into the form at: hjt.iamnotageek.com. This site notes the files that are condidates for extermination. 4. Select the items you'd like to remove. Click the Fix Checked button. Congrats. Post your opinions and let others know if this works. Thanks, compuworm

raptors892004 Posted September 18, 2005 CID Share Posted September 18, 2005 Hijackthis is used on all spyware help forums that I know of to simplify the process of determining what is causing the problem.. It has been around for a long time and from my own usage, it works perfect!

The baddest just reinstall on reboot........ thru a sub-process which don't even show in hijackthis. Spent a month cleaning one machine where formatting was not an option. Ghosting is always good both for potential hard disk failure and spyware. A combination of hijackthis and anti-spyware scanning software (use several) is another good solution. If you're not comfortable editing the registry, don't use hijackthis on your own. Just use it with one of the interpreters like the site you mentioned, compuworm. It is a good idea to get familiar with what processes are running on your PC, and which are necessary.
