EvilNightHawk3 Posted September 28, 2005 CID Share Posted September 28, 2005 If you have a t1, please show a speedtest and how much you pay for it, Thanks.
tbaker397 Posted September 28, 2005 CID Share Posted September 28, 2005 to be honest, I don't think anyone has a T1 at home, some have connections like a T1(i think someone has one around here) at the office but thats it. Check out blunted's SDSL scores, those are what you get/maybe higher on a T1. And I've seen anywhere from 450-2000 a month but the average I would say is no more than $600. CA3LE Posted September 28, 2005 CID Share Posted September 28, 2005 I've met a few people that had T1's in their homes because they couldn't get a fast consumer line to their location (but could get a business class t1 installed... most likely with a hefty install fee, I never asked). All the people I've met that had T1's had them written off as a business expense (one person didn't even own their own business and wrote it off anyway saying that they needed it for doing work related research from home and had been writing the $550/month for a few years with no problem) --- So there are plenty of people that have these as their home connections... almost all will test at a near perfect 1.544 Mbps both directions because that's what they pay for... and with a line that is in that class of internet connections... you always get exactly what you pay for, ISP's are good at keeping those speeds perfect all the time (on that class of connection) - the only variable with T1 and above {and business class DSL and ADSL} is the customers network... This is because a line of that quality is truly private... and that's why you pay so much
Hollywoodx954x Posted September 28, 2005 CID Share Posted September 28, 2005 well blunted aka eebobb does have the best server in any game so what can you say? he lives like 5000 feet away from the c.o. and pays like 300 - 700 on his 3 lines that rapes any other server. thndr143 Posted September 28, 2005 CID Share Posted September 28, 2005 I have 8000/512 Cable ( 950kB/secDL / 60kB/secUL ) From what I've read, a T3 is around 6000 and a T1 is 3000. So, Im guessing that my 8000 is way faster than a T1 or T3
just- Posted September 28, 2005 CID Share Posted September 28, 2005 thndr143 could i ask you to have a bit of consideration for the topic really looking for T1 speed tests dont think it would be apropriate for every one to post their speed tests in this post would it? btw i wish i had ur upload
EvilNightHawk3 Posted September 28, 2005 Author CID Share Posted September 28, 2005 Thanks for the info ca3le, i think i'm ready to make my decision now. :D ALso , my 384/384 business line from bellsouth just isn't enough to hold my stuff anymore and only put out a 12 man in WOlfenstein anyways. tbaker397 Posted September 28, 2005 CID Share Posted September 28, 2005 From what I've read, a T3 is around 6000 and a T1 is 3000. Just a little FYI your info is WAY off A T1 line is capped at 1.544Mbps both upstream and downstream. it can be split into 64 i think segments so u could use some of it for voice and some for data. A full T3 line is capped at 45Mbps There are many fractal options available because a Full T3 is really expensive So, Im guessing that my 8000 is way faster than a T1 or T3

EvilNightHawk3 Posted September 28, 2005 Author CID Share Posted September 28, 2005 T1 owns sdsl though. Lets say a huge company is using the network that your hooked into , to transfer a huge file, then the your bandwidth on the sdsl line is going to be sucked up and might not hit 1 meg. Sdsl is best effort to hit 1.5 and is not gaurenteed at all times unlike a t1 which is alwayts 1.544 and available for your use anytime. :D
Blunted Posted September 29, 2005 CID Share Posted September 29, 2005 not really cause it depends on where you live cause i hit about 180 kb a sec uploading so if your close like me you can get that or if you want to spend the extra money for about 100 kb then go ahead. you wont get much more out of it but i guess its a start till you can get a fractional T3
xyther4523 Posted September 29, 2005 CID Share Posted September 29, 2005 actually a t1 is 1.533Mbps or something like that, (its got to have something, not sure if overhead, but its something that uses that last .010Mbps of your connection)
Blunted Posted September 29, 2005 CID Share Posted September 29, 2005 yea its more but not much at all and not worth the extra money

EvilNightHawk3 Posted September 29, 2005 Author CID Share Posted September 29, 2005 Umm no there not dude. DO you even know what the speeds are for a full t1 and also, try hosting a server on that line for 6 months straight and see if you don't get capped. lol
spacedinvader Posted October 2, 2005 CID Share Posted October 2, 2005 well i thought t1 was faster than what i see here.

DO you even know what the speeds are for a full t1 and also, try hosting a server on that line for 6 months straight and see if you don't get capped. lol Uhh...I believe so. A t1 line can transmit 1.544 megabits per second equally up/down and can be used to transmit 24 digitized voice channels and for data transfers on a network, providing service up to 60 times faster than a traditional modem. And no I have no immediate intentions running a server with my current ISP. TheHalf
EvilNightHawk4 Posted October 2, 2005 CID Share Posted October 2, 2005 lol , good because it would be real good for first few months and then you would see your line go down hill fast.
