VanBuren Posted November 27, 2004 CID Share Posted November 27, 2004 Is that so?, then why would Emule download at 700 kB (That would be the download rate for a 5.5 Mb connection wouldn't it? If I'd be getting just part of the files, I wouldn't be able to listen to the music or view videos or install programs right? How do you explain this? almost all filehare speedmeters is very inaccurate, you also use several TCP streams and can never be compared to a single stream. to find a more accurate speed, you need to use taskmanager
VanBuren Posted November 27, 2004 CID Share Posted November 27, 2004 Yes actually my speed is faster with larger files,my speed shows lower when I download the smallest file probally due to my lower RWIN setting Microwave Yea probl, with smaller RWIN it will take more time to get full speed, but overall its better to have a smaller (not tooooo small) RWIN and get stable results and faster browsing. VanBuren Posted November 27, 2004 CID Share Posted November 27, 2004 look here 8.25 MB/s and my netgraph shows 98% of 10 Mbps 8.25MB/s = 8,25 x 8 = 66 Mbps ( speedmeter ) true speed 1250x0,98 = 1,225 MB/s = 1.225x8 = 9,8 Mbps VanBuren

How do you explain this? you said it yourself, this is what you said in another post "my actual download speed is 1.3 Mbits even though to the eyes of the world (Particularly my customers) my conection is of 15 MBits. Trust me, nothing illegal here, not even the software installed on my computers, just having fun legally. If you are interested, what this softeare does, is to download only a small part of the images, somehow like zipping the images from the internet, the result is a poorly displayed image , but you wouldn
MICROWAVE Posted November 27, 2004 CID Share Posted November 27, 2004 Angel_j_d, I have been watching this thread and I have to agree with VanBuren Iam able to make adjustments and go to sites and it "appears" that I have really fast speeds from the readings but the reality is my "true Speed" is much lower, We have no reason to lie to you we are telling you what we see and think from our own experience, and if someone can prove me to be wrong about this I will be happy to admit my mistake......try going to a site that gives you a choice to download a text file or a picture and notice the difference.....Im not postive what is allowing your P.C. to do what ever it is doing with the files but Im pretty sure it is happening......and to me the purpose of this is to exchange ideas like we are doing now....Thanks Microwave

Cheers Reverend if you have your connection tweaked and thats the best that you can get then you have done everything possible, and to me thats whats important. I think everyone has had to deal with a bad setup at one time, but if all bases are covered its just waiting it out until something better can come along......to paraphrase your good book I think it has been said that "This to shall Pass".....of course you already know this stuff but, its always been helpful for me when someone gently reminded me about my situation........ The Reverend Posted December 13, 2004 CID Share Posted December 13, 2004 Thanks Microwave, I graciously appreciate the "words of wisdom" and partial quotation from The Good Book as you have done wisely, yet rest assured there is nothing about life nor within or about life that I truly hate (except the way DirecWay conducts business, they are "hellish" at best). I have suffered with far slower, and have had the pleasures that Road Runner brought to my cause ...yet I am content with what I am given (after I cool down). I always seem to have exactly what is needed with little need for my intervention ....truth be known. Marcin541 Posted December 14, 2004 CID Share Posted December 14, 2004 Thats true. Also depends on how fast you are capped at. I mean if youre capped at 128k download on dsl, it should be fine even if you are 12k away from the CO. But for speeds around 10mbps, you need to be in the 1000 meter zone. Think or it like Satalite lol
NoShow Posted December 14, 2004 CID Share Posted December 14, 2004 This is what I get with the 12mb test. I have the 4000/512 package and with the other tests I do get a little higher but not by much. Although I'm getting what I pay for and sometimes above so I'm happy with it all. :::..
