hi reverend: thanks for the effort the url didn't work I got the old can't find page.So I used my ms search typed in just irfanveiw it came up with a list of places to download I tried the one that looked like the home page it did the can't find too. Then I went to the download that cnet had it worked fine.I just saved it for now I will load it later to see how it works.Super cool to play for the Grand Ole Opry I 'm not a musiciam myself but I play a mean stereo.I mostly listen to rock but being a native Texan I have listened to some country all my life.Even went to see aWillie Nelson concert I saw A Johnny Cash one too his back-up were the Stattler Brothers doing their new song "Counting Flowers on the Wall" at least it was new then I was 8 or 9 years old I think.I also chauffeured for ZZ Top at a concert here.We had an 18 inch snow the night of the concert .Riding in it kind of freaked those east Texas boys out.I knew a pretty young lady that worked for the promoter is how I got to do this got paid $50.00 & saw the concert for free with a backstage pass. :cool:Thanks again Cholla

heh reverend : thanks for the trouble to try to look for the Freeware I always like that price when I can get it.I just got my first computer last April 2004 it is pretty low tech compared to yours. Its a refurbished IBM with windows 98 se so if the freeware won't work in this os no need to go tothe trouble just for me .A post for others would be good if this freeware only is for more up to date os.I run into this a lot with windows 98 se.It is a good program to learn on .Right now I barley know a .bmp from a .jpg but I'm a pretty fast learner.I started kind of late with computers.Actually this is not my first computer I did have & still do have a Commedore 64.Some may not like the old games but the old 64 has a blackjack program better than any I've seen.I still hook it up & play it once in awhile.I also have an old Matell Intelevision game If you have never seen one of these it was the cutting edge in electronic games when I bought it I think that was in the late 70's.Its joystick is a disk direction control with a 10 key pad you put the card for the individual game in a slot in front of the 10 keys .Thats just a plastic card the game uses cartriges. You talked about the XIT in Dalhart said you played there .I guess in a cw band Pretty big party there only went a couple of times .I guess when its close you ignore good stuff.I prefer PBR & Extreme bull PRCA to just regular rodeo . But I did go to the PRCA finals 1 year when thet were in OK City. Thanks Cholla

Heh CA3LE & resopalrabotnick: I know about the newer deisels just thought the Pinto conversion this book on pinto had was good.specially since it was done about 1975 when gas was much cheaper. As for hybrids they've come a long way but still have a long way to go.Right now there about like having a Commadore 128 pc a little better than a Commedor 64 but I don't think I want to try to get on the web with either one if that was even possible.Feel the same way about hybrid cars. The real advance in them will be when they develope a light weight weight weight super battery that can be charged quickly & have a 400 mile range at 70mph.then they can just make the car electric all the way.I look for the petroleum industry to keep this type of battery from being developed or we would have one already. heh resopalrabotnick: right on the deisel I don't have a deisel vehicle but the are good.Read about someone transplanting a chrysler nissan industrial 4 cyl deisel into a Pinto( the car not the horse ) hooked to a 5-speed manual .it said the Pinto got 75mpg.My 4 cyl gas doesn't even come close to this mpg.The only drawback to the deisel is the smell up above it in a semi you don't notice it much in a car you can. heh bigw: the clutch definately costs more to replace than a fluid change in an automatic.A better comparison would be cost of clutch r&r to torque converter r&r. Because it cost even less to change the gear oil in a manual than the filter & fluid in an automatic. Cholla

heh reverend :nice speed I posted some of my tests from this morning on VanBurans topic "post your speed & how much you pay monthly".So i didn't put then in again here.I can't get DSL I'M 28600 ft from the Telco.I could get cable here but some aren't too satisfied with the service here.I'm thinking about it though. How do you get such a nice copy of the test mine look like the copy & paste type because that is what I do.What way do you do this? heh VanBuran: I thought I would post my tests with you fast guys.these were taken 1/14/2005 aprox 7:20am cst USA .there is one that I took yesterday at your site in Sweden at this post: 56K regular dial-up score .The rest are from this morning. 56k regular dial-up $9.99 a month at nts-online.net located in Lubbock Tx.The downloads are good but my upload could be a lot better It was the same with & without the firewall. :cool:Cholla :::.. heh resopalrabotnick: Whatever works for you.Thats why there are 1000000+ chill recipes.Just like I like Wolf brand on hot dogs better than homemade chilli. :cool:Cholla

heh resopalrabotnick: I figured out what you were talking but already had the reply typed. I am going to put an explanation of this you may already know this but for those that don't:A ping or knock is caused by the fuel detonating before the piston reaches top dead center. This can be caused by the ignition(spark) timing being too far advanced. The cause in a high performance engine is usually compression pressure. the pressure explodes the fuel before top dead center before the spark plug fires. Then the other cylinders & momentum have to push the piston against the explosion to top dead center (causing the knock) before it can complete the power stroke. This causes power loss because the explosion occured before max compression was achieved. The turbo accomplishes the higher compression by forcing more air into the compression chamber this increases the volume of atoms (explodable fuel mixture) in the compressiom chamber,The more volume in the cylinder the higher the compression;the higher the turbo pressure the more volume.Lower octane fuel explodes at lower pressure the too high of compression pressure causes this.So the fuel octane needs to be increaesd until the knock stops for max performance. The pistons have to be made of a material that will handle the pressure but thats another subject.Lowering the turbo pressure lowers the compression stopping the knock & saves the engine if you can't get the correct fuel. This lowers the max performance below what you would get with the correct octane fuel but increases the current performance by stopping the knock caused by lower octane fuel.I would have tried to explain this with a shorter reply but whole books are written on high performance this is a lot shorter than a book. :cool:Cholla

heh rasopalrabotnick: I understand the need for speed when you can't spend 8 hours mine usually takes 3 to 4 hours to get yhe right thickness. But when you are in a hurry the sausage works .that is why I suggested the chorizzo sausage takes the same amount of time as the Itallian but already has the Mexican spices. hi microwave:I agree even just meat & beans are good .As the commercial goes"How long has it been since you had a bowl of Wolf brand chilli .Well thats too long" :cool:Cholla
-
hi resopalrabotnick : I'm sure we all have our quick recipes for when you don't have time for the long version.Try chorizzo sausages if you can get them. But I'm with you in putting the Itallian sausages in the spaghetti sauce. Cholla

sorry I wrote the rest of this before I under stood what you meant you were talking about the turbo boost still this has approximately the same effect it just does it a different way.By forcing more air into the combustion chamber you increase the compressionSo from here on I was talking about something different but related.A 12 to1 compression ratio would be between 190 & 230 psi depending on your info .The fuel available today is to low octane to burn at that compression even the best premium you can get.Aviation fuel mixed with premium & racing addtive would be the best bet to burn fuel at that compression.I will show my age by this but I remember when the cheapest regular(leaded) had an octane of 99.Shell sold a super premium that was 110.this is what was necessary to run the old muscle cars with a 12 to1 compression ratio.a richer mixture is not the same thing as octane its like running with the choke partly closed on a carb system or too high of performance fuel injectors for the engine.it just causes carbon and damps down the explosion with too much fuel toair ratio.thats what stops the knock(pre ignition). If thats not what you meant

hi reverend : to bad the real hot stuff bothers you now

hi Reverend: no this one is in Amarillo,Tx it has been for several years .it is usuall one of the first two weekends in January depending on how they fall.It is put on for Make A Wish usually sponsered by Coors & Bud.My receipe for steak chilli will nearly melt the pot.Has 7 to 10 different chilli peppers of various heat range in it . These dried peppers might be hard to find outside the south west.Have you tried Morton's chilli blend chilli powder its one of the best .with it almost anyone could make pretty good chilli mild enough for most people. If not they shouldn't be eating chilli anyway. Hi legiwei: I have a windows 98 se here of some of the registry tweaks in my system. I am putting the usual disclaimer don't mess with your registry if you don't know what you are doing.I am not responsible if you crash your system.Backup your registry before doing any tweaks to it.That being said here are the tweaks they are not origionally mine & can be found on the web at various sites but not all at one site.Even if you don't add them it won't hurt to check out your registry to see what is in these locations...Your MTU can be determined by ping if you can ping there is plenty of info on how to do ping on the web.If you can't ping then ask the techs at your isp what it should be. HKML/system/currentcontrolset/services/MSTCP "DefaultRcvWindow" without quotes Dword this should already be in the right pane value is your rwin HKML/system/currentcontrolset/services/MSTCP/parameters "GlobalMaxTCPWindoSize" without quotes add as string value in right pane it probably won't already be there. The Windo part of this tweak is correct there is not a w at the end of window. The value is your rwin HKML/system/currentcontrolset/services/MSTCP/Ndi/params Dword "(Default)"without quotes set at your MTU value Dword named "@" without quotes set at your MTU value HKML/system/currentcontrolset/services/class/net/000 "IPMTU" without quotes Dword in right pane set at your MTU value HKML/system/currentcontrolset/services/class/net/000/Ndi/params/IPMTU Dword "(Default)"without quotes set at your MTU value Dword named "@" without quotes set at your MTU value add values to right pane HKML/system/currentcontrolset/services/class/net/000/Ndi/params/IPMTU/enum delete the values for "Large" "medium" & "small" without quotes Leave tht values for "Automatic" &(default) rename "automatic" your MTU value like "1500" for example the put in "Automatic" without quotes as the value of the dword it should look something like this example I could not copy the Dword symbol so where I type Dword is where the symbol would be Dword 1500

hi .s1 I guess it makes a difference if you are weaned on chill like they do in Texas. To me they all taste different but some beer or water in between samples helps .This is a 100 small samples not bowls .So most who come to the cookoff can have some. Cholla

I went to a chilli cookoff 1/8/2005 in Amarillo.Tx .I tasted about a 100 different chillis. Some excellent, some good & some I wouldn't feed to my dog. This doesn't have much to do with computers so here is some tech advice: don't spill chilli on your computer unless you have a good firewall. Any other chilli lovers at testmy.net? Cholla

My isp blocks ping& this test doesn't have a setting for dial-up so I have to lie to it to get to the final step .here are the results I copied them don't look like the others maybe someone could tell me how to do it better. Thanks Cholla 1. this is the speedtest result done at VanBuran's web site in Sweden: :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 38 Kbps about 0 Mbps (tested with 1074 KB) Download Speed is:: 5 KB/s Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/ Bottom Line:: 1 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 204.8 second(s) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/get.cgi?Test_ID=VZ90Y15C8 It is slower than my tests at testmy.net in the USA but it is a larger test .I woult have included a tracert to VanBuran's site from my computer to show the number of hops but my isp doesn't allow ping or tracert. They have good speed which is more important .To any 56k dial-up users who visit this topic how about posting some of your tests here.I would like to know I am not the only regular dial-up user at this site. Thanks Cholla

Hi Microwave thought I would vote in your pole.I learned to drive in a 1941 Chevy pickup of my granddad's.It had the old 4 speed with a granny gear for first(not synced)I was only 10 at the time.I still drive a manual 4 speed.Shifting without the clutch is really hard on the syncs. You must have been a truckdriver to learn this.Cholla

Hi Microwave I appreciate you checking out the speed on your uncles computer,I've heard that a business phone system can really slow things down.I used to get that kind of speed from my old isp from the same computer & phoneline I am using now.I am posting a test I did about 11:30 pm 1/11/05 at test my net.I wish my upload was like this. HI VanBuran Looks like it worked.I hope this is the best catagory to put the poll in.If it isn't you seem to be able to move things where they need to be . Thanks Cholla

Thought I would do a poll to see how many like me are using testmy net.To the ones on regular dial-up post some of your scores.CHOLLA
