  1. Hi 24Kbps : I am on dial-up too.your ISP probably disconnects you after 8 hours continuous time online.Mine does after 5 hours if this is the case modem settings will not help.I can reconect & have as many 5 hr sessions as I want. This might help. Cholla
  2. Hey all: I like PBR(professional bull riding) & extreme bull (PRCA) as a spectater .Football is good too. Cholla
  3. Hi all: I thought I would get in this .I beleive tweaking has helped my speed.theelviscerator I have 56K dial-up. The phone company says the best I can expect at 26800 ft from telco is 28 to 30K.I have speeds above this almost always.Sometimes far above it .So I beleive tweaking helps.Van Buren has helped a lot of members improve speed so he knows how to do it for most connections.Of course tweaking won't help a dirty system if you leave it dirty DUH. If you don't like Van Burens advice then don't take it! A new drop line will always help but try to get a phone company to do this if they don't think anything is wrong with the old one according to their test.Even if it has been there 30 years. Cholla
  4. Hi fire_rainbow : Your URL link to http://adsl.vianetworks.pt/bmeter/results.php?Kbps=1851.7&downloadtime=10.032&KB=2267.625&recorded=1 doesn't give your test results. It only shows the speed as 000Kbps.If you want to show the results you might try to copy & paste them. I tested my system at the site .Kind of interesting since I don't speak or read portugese.I managed to do the test though. Cholla If anyone wants to do the test click on Testar novamente at the test site. Where is the test site fire_rainbow ? This is what the copy & paste looks like Teste de largura de banda O teste de largura de banda deu: 43.80Kbps o que significa que fez um download a 5.48 KBytes/seg dos nossos servidores. 43.8 Kbps SUA LIGA
  5. Hi Van Buren: Cool link to the NDT test sites I added it to my favorites .I think I'll put it here too. Thanks Cholla http://e2epi.internet2.edu/ndt/ndt-server-list.html
  6. Hi CA3LE: My logging problem was caused by my clearing out the catche before I did the test specifically the cookies.Since I stopped doing that I haven't noticed any more problems logging.I have Sygate personal firewall Its not on the list that causes problems with upload test.Maybe you will find this info useful CA3LE. 7. Hi mdv_forever : I think some of the registry tweaks in this topic might help you.I have dial-up & windows 98se.Post & let me know if they are useful to you. https://testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=1633.0 Also go to this url & download this patch it helped my 98se a lot: http://www.mdgx.com/web.htm#98SE Unofficial Windows 98 SE Service Pack (SP) 2.0 RC1 This program will give you a list of patches you have installed on your system & other useful info: http://www.belarc.com/products.html Cholla
  8. CableNoob : Just have your mom call tech support to find out your caps .Don't just guess that you have the fastest speed they offer. Van Buren I tried the test at
  9. Hi Donhall : If you are clearing your catch before you do the test DO NOT delete your cookies. That was what I was doing & it caused the problem your having .Also make sure you are logged in. Cholla
  10. Hi mbrainerd : I have win 98 se so it works different than XP.With 98 if you have windoe scaling off max rwin is 65535 no matter how high it is set. With scaling on it can be set higher using a multiple of 1460 the MSS.Like 513920 Then the unscaled receive window shows 64240.This is on win 98 se.I just saw you had window scaling off in the NDT test & thought that might be the reason for the results you got.Since the test showed your RWIN to be 0.your cablenut settings show it to be 30660.The test should show that but it doesn't. So for some reason it is not detecting your Rwin. would like to know why to. I have turned in a problem report to this test site on a test I did one time they were very good about responding. You might try that & see what they say. Cholla
  11. Hi mbrainerd : Is this the result of the NDT test done when you do the first test each time you go to the site.I have found the first test can give some wrong results.Try to do it a second & third time & see if it stays the same.I have never received the results you put in bold type. Most of the time increasing the rwin will change the receive buffer stats this test reports.I am not saying to change your receive buffer use the setting that works best for you.Just if you increase it this test will change the amount of limitation it reports.Test your rwin with the TCP Analyzer.Use window scaling & try 513920 for rwin This should give you an unscaled receive window of 64240. See if this changes the test results of the NDT test if you like to experiment.you can always change back to your origional settings. https://www.speedguide.net/index.php This is the link for the TCP Analyzer. Post the results if you try this I would like to see them I think other members would too. Cholla
  12. Hi Spooner: First follow Van Burens steps. They usually improve speed. Next do a trace route to testmy.net to see if there is a long latency at any point or at all points. This will show if there really is a problem to testmy, net I'm betting there isn't,You can send your ISP the results & a copy of the testmy.net test & say why aren't your speeds better. There are a lot of Cox users here and they get close to their cap so you should too.I beleive your ISP will be where you find the problem.Below are mt NDT tests they are usually too fast also . 13. Hi Spooner:Before you just accept what the Cox speed test LasVegas says. This is my speed on that test with a 56K dial-up modem.
  14. Beastmaster it doesn't show locked on my screen probably a glich.I checked it under the directway topic it didn't show a lock there either. If it is just showing up on your computer its probably nothing apparently you can post . Cholla

  16. Hi all: It seemed like the karma caused some members to think they were being disrespected if they got negative karma. So it caused problems. So for my 2 cents worth I was glad to see it go.Members usually get a thank you when they help someone anyway. What more do you need? Cholla
  17. Hi wingzero 2309: I think 1 I downloaded it off the web.I'm not tech enough to do this gif myself. The site said it was OK to use as long as I didn't hotlink it to their site.I haven't played the game I just thought it would make a good sig.I've read the same as you have probably IE7 will only be for XP. Cholla
  18. Hi all: I hope it works better than IE6 did when I first installed it.I had to get an unofficial patch to fix it.MS never did get it working right with there patches. When I put in the sp1 package for it I could only load 1 page it would lock up on the second page the unofficial patch fixed this.I had to go back to IE5 so I could find the patch.I am running win98se. So IE7 may not even be available to me.I'm probably better off that way.
  19. HI mushroomlife:I beleive the problem is your ISP they are blocking ICMP probably for security so you need to ask them if this is the case. Both trace routes stop here: 13 30 40 40 68.87.63.4 srp-8-1-ur01.macomb.mi.mich.Comcast.net 2 8 ms 8 ms 9 ms ge-8-2-ur01.macomb.mi.mich.Comcast.net [68.87.63 .85 I used my Neotrace both show Comcast in NJ .This is where the trace times out. That should be where the problem is. Cholla
  20. Hi mushroomlife: I would suggest trying the tracert without the firewall as a start. you can do a tracert from the following site & see if it times out from there
  21. Hi .s1: In the post CA3LE made herehe said:make sure the demensions are correct otherwise the server will download and resize the picture width x height == 120x100 max The properties say it is 69 x 110 the height must be the problem. I will pm CA3le about this. Cholla
  22. Hiall: any ideas on something else that might make this work in the avatar? Cholla
  23. Hi all I guess by hosting you mean using Image Shack or Photo Basket I tried both. It still is not animated. When I put it in the forum Avatar either in the URL or my own picture spot .It is put in a GIF image but comes out a PNG image. You can check this by right clicking mouse & selecting properties. When I check the one you have this way they are GIF images.I even tested one of yours & it was animated when I put it in.What I need to know is how do I keep it from turning into a PNG image? If you mean something else by hosting let me know . Thanks
  24. Hi nozero:I like yours how about this: Heinz 57-American Thats a hyphen I can live with. Cholla
