Yo Vanburen need link for that cablenut adjuster
cholla replied to qUicK05's topic in Make it Faster...
Hey qUicK05: This is a link to your old post Van Buren gave you the Cablenut download there .The correct one for you I bet. https://testmy.net/forum/index.php/topic,2154.msg21329.html#msg21329 Cholla -
Hey Blako : Like Van Buren said Cablenut will make the settings in your registry.I did notice it used a different RWIN than yours.Since the broadband test said yours is in good range maybe you should use that one or try the cablenut to see if it works better & put your old one back if it doesn't.If you still want to find these in your registry Use the registry find It should be in the edit pulldown.Type in DefaultReceiveWindow then select find.Do the same with GlobalMaxTCPWindowSize. I have Windows ME but I bet your 2000 registry has a simular find function. Then you can decide if you need to do anything with them. Cholla

Hi all: I'm 51 it's in my profile.Sill in good shape .6 ft tall 185 to 190 lbs.Not to old to rock.Permanently single.I guess Motley Crue can wear the plaid pants.

Hey 24Kbps : I have already tried a poll simular to yours here .There are only a couple of dial-up members. I hope you will stay to add another dial-up member. You can learn a lot from the members with faster connections. & have some fun too the forum has many things going on that don't even deal with speed or connection. You do need to make your poll more GENERIC since there are so many cable & satellite speeds. The members can post their connection type if they want to. Cholla

Hey 24Kbps : My modem is a pctel hsp 56k v92 they were bought by conexant.the modem settings are simular but not exactly the same.I will give you the string I use & tell you what the settings do in my modem. If you will find your modem in your registry it should have a list of several but not all of the settings it accepts. This is my modem string AT&FE0&CI&D2&K4&V1W3S0=0 ATS7=60S30=0M1N3%C3&K4B0N1x4 These are the extra settings:%N9;S91=15;S10=50 AT is attention F is reset to default E0 disables echo command &C1 is dedicated carrier &D2 IS DTR hangup&enter command code &K4

Hi 24Kbps: These are 3 I did today in a row .Even with different size tests the speed was consistent.Jus not as fastas it was. 15 Mar 2005 Download 33 2992 kB 1982345366743 cholla nts-online.net M45H1ECNV 15 Mar 2005 Download 33 579 kB 1982345366743 cholla nts-online.net I3Y46XAQO 15 Mar 2005 Download 33 97 kB 1982345366743 cholla nts-online.net 4NXHO What os do you have 24Kbps ?How far are you from the Telco? The tweaks in my posts are for 98,98se,ME,& maybe 95 . Xp is a lot different from what I understand.I haven'tr had a XP os so I haven't tried to tweak it. Since there aren't many 56K 's here I will help if I can.
-
Hi MUff!N : The modem tweak really only allows more settings in the modem speed pulldown .It would help if your modem could use these faster speeds.Since the 115200 is the max before the tweak & this is recomended at several sites as a tweak this tweak allows you to set it even faster. The other tweaks will allow you to see if the registry is optimized for your connection. You need to know what your max mtu & mss are.Cablenut will make a lot of the settings

Hi : the 5 hr cut off is in my TOS but if I use 20 hrs a day thy don't stop my service like they did yours.I just get disconnected after 5 hrs then i can reconnect again.I agree with coknuck you shouldn't have a phone connected to your modem this is almost always a speed killer for dial-up. Cholla
-
Hi 24Kbps : I am on dial-up too.your ISP probably disconnects you after 8 hours continuous time online.Mine does after 5 hours if this is the case modem settings will not help.I can reconect & have as many 5 hr sessions as I want. This might help. Cholla

Hi all: I thought I would get in this .I beleive tweaking has helped my speed.theelviscerator I have 56K dial-up. The phone company says the best I can expect at 26800 ft from telco is 28 to 30K.I have speeds above this almost always.Sometimes far above it .So I beleive tweaking helps.Van Buren has helped a lot of members improve speed so he knows how to do it for most connections.Of course tweaking won't help a dirty system if you leave it dirty DUH. If you don't like Van Burens advice then don't take it! A new drop line will always help but try to get a phone company to do this if they don't think anything is wrong with the old one according to their test.Even if it has been there 30 years. Cholla

Hi fire_rainbow : Your URL link to http://adsl.vianetworks.pt/bmeter/results.php?Kbps=1851.7&downloadtime=10.032&KB=2267.625&recorded=1 doesn't give your test results. It only shows the speed as 000Kbps.If you want to show the results you might try to copy & paste them. I tested my system at the site .Kind of interesting since I don't speak or read portugese.I managed to do the test though. Cholla If anyone wants to do the test click on Testar novamente at the test site. Where is the test site fire_rainbow ? This is what the copy & paste looks like Teste de largura de banda O teste de largura de banda deu: 43.80Kbps o que significa que fez um download a 5.48 KBytes/seg dos nossos servidores. 43.8 Kbps SUA LIGA

My Test Scores are not showing up in the database

Hi Donhall : If you are clearing your catch before you do the test DO NOT delete your cookies. That was what I was doing & it caused the problem your having .Also make sure you are logged in. Cholla -
Hi mbrainerd : I have win 98 se so it works different than XP.With 98 if you have windoe scaling off max rwin is 65535 no matter how high it is set. With scaling on it can be set higher using a multiple of 1460 the MSS.Like 513920 Then the unscaled receive window shows 64240.This is on win 98 se.I just saw you had window scaling off in the NDT test & thought that might be the reason for the results you got.Since the test showed your RWIN to be 0.your cablenut settings show it to be 30660.The test should show that but it doesn't. So for some reason it is not detecting your Rwin. would like to know why to. I have turned in a problem report to this test site on a test I did one time they were very good about responding. You might try that & see what they say. Cholla
-
Hi mbrainerd : Is this the result of the NDT test done when you do the first test each time you go to the site.I have found the first test can give some wrong results.Try to do it a second & third time & see if it stays the same.I have never received the results you put in bold type. Most of the time increasing the rwin will change the receive buffer stats this test reports.I am not saying to change your receive buffer use the setting that works best for you.Just if you increase it this test will change the amount of limitation it reports.Test your rwin with the TCP Analyzer.Use window scaling & try 513920 for rwin This should give you an unscaled receive window of 64240. See if this changes the test results of the NDT test if you like to experiment.you can always change back to your origional settings. https://www.speedguide.net/index.php This is the link for the TCP Analyzer. Post the results if you try this I would like to see them I think other members would too. Cholla

Hi Spooner: First follow Van Burens steps. They usually improve speed. Next do a trace route to testmy.net to see if there is a long latency at any point or at all points. This will show if there really is a problem to testmy, net I'm betting there isn't,You can send your ISP the results & a copy of the testmy.net test & say why aren't your speeds better. There are a lot of Cox users here and they get close to their cap so you should too.I beleive your ISP will be where you find the problem.Below are mt NDT tests they are usually too fast also . Hi all: It seemed like the karma caused some members to think they were being disrespected if they got negative karma. So it caused problems. So for my 2 cents worth I was glad to see it go.Members usually get a thank you when they help someone anyway. What more do you need? Cholla
