The airport will most likely have NO efect on your wireless. Unless they have some monster radar sweeping your new place very few seconds. In that case you might have more to worry about than your wireless connection, lol. And I agree with Swimmer on buying a seperate modem and router. That's putting all your eggs in one basket, which is not always the best idea. Buy them seperate. And btw, Welcome to the forum, and tell your friends.

I never thought of that. I will have to remember to try that next time I install a trial program, thanks. btw, I have never heard of that AV, but I will check it out.

Well, when I left for work this morning the prices at that intersection were $2.89 / gal. When I passed by round noon, they were back to $2.75/gal. Can you say "Attempted price gouging"? I would be back there demanding the difference in price back if I was one of the people that payed $2.89. When you think about it, most people just b*tch about paying the high prices, but they don't generally question the gas station personell. (Omaha, NE is my local, tdawnaz)

What a bunch of crap! I just got home from the gas station, paid $2.59/gal at BP. Across the street, the Phillips station is closed for the evening, but the sign already says $2.89/gal. So I said something to the BP guy and he said that they are raising the price 30 cents at midnight and so is the Texaco station on the other corner. Just thought I would throw this out just in case any of you want to run out and fill up. I'm sure my town is not the only one raising them tonight. One more thing, that damn gas that they are selling after midnight tonight did NOT cost them 30

It shouldn't hurt to try the latest drivers. I would create a restore point quick before updating, just in case.
-
I wonder if there is a problem with an ethernet port on either the modem or your PC. Something to keep in mind.
-
Yeesh, that sucks. You're welcome Glad you took my advice, happy to help :haha:
-
No problem Not a problem, wish I could have done more. Let us know if you get the prob figured out, I am curious what it is.
-
This storm is not letting up. I am afraid to think of what may happen to the people who did not leave New Orleans.
-
That's only 2064 kbps, not very good for OOL. I would give them a call this week and ask them to check into your service. You can try VanBuren's 10000/1000 Cablenut settings if you want, but there is still another issue. There was 1 time out in your tracert to testmy.net earlier, so maybe try pinging google.com for a longer time period; type "ping google.com -n 500" in command prompt (will ping 500 times). You may also want to try a different ethernet cable from the modem to the PC. (I guess I'm assuming that you're NOT connected via USB, let me know if you are since USB is notoriously slow with a cable modem).

I don't think you can loose for $40 plus $4 shipping. I am thinking of getting a DVD burner, and this looks like a good option to me.
-
Whoops, sorry, here it is: ftp://ftp1.optonline.net/pub/test64
-
If you are supposed to have the 10000/1000 plan, then yes you are below average. Try this one last speed test.It is an ftp download test from OOL's network. Let it download at least 3/4 of the file, and make note of the speed. (screenshot if you can) and post back. And sorry, I am running out of ideas, I still don't think tweaking will help that much. If anyone else as a suggestion, please join in.
-
Is your download supposed to be 10mbps? Just curious, is OOL's only package 10000/1000? I don't think that tweaking is going to gain 6mbps for you, so there must be another issue. Try this test: https://testmy.net/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=6415.0;id=3093 Run the batch file, then post the results back here.
-
Levels look good, the only thing I am curious about is the fact that OOL is trying to deliver 10mbps downstream at 64 QAM. That is completely out of your control, but what that means is that there is a 27mbps channel being shared in your node for all modems in it. Most ISPs will run in 256 QAM (38.8mbps) when offering higher download rates. If you are in a large node, that may be the issue - overselling bandwidth. I say you try deleting your cablenut tweaks, since you were unsure about them, then re-start your PC and try speed testing a couple times for consistency.
-
Nice speeds. Well, even though Verizon does not service my area, I do have to thank them for lighting the fires under the other providers feet. We now have the 9000/1000 being offered here. Hopefully see the 15/2 in the near future hear, then I will probably upgrade.
-
First, click this link: http://192.168.100.1/ Then navigate to the signal page, and copy that info and paste it here, please. That will give me an idea of your downstream and upstream levels, for starters. And, you can open Cablenut and click the "delete cablenut tweaks" button. This will change all of the settings back to the default windows settings. If the default settings don't help, then we can start the re-tweaking process later.
-
Sounds like your speeds fluctuate quite a bit. Maybe a signal level issue. What brand of modem do you have? You can poll most modems and get signal levels and some other stats.
-
Welcome to the forum PL 88. If you haven't already, double check your connections ( cable and ethernet ) to make sure they are all tight. Did you re-arrange any wiring when moving the modem? And lastly, do you have a router in-line?

No fightin' words intended here at all. On that note, it would be cool to be able to challenge another member to some sort of fighting game when the time is right. "That's it! Choose your weapon!!!"

Ahh crap, I'm an idiot, let me fix it, before too many members discover how truly stupid I really am. :tard: :haha:
