Good to hear, glad to help -

Good idea. What are the specs on the amp? Does it say it amplifies the 5-42MHz spectrum? Most amps do not, but it sounds like your's does. You could stick another splitter in line to help attenuate the RF a bit. That would lower the RX, and raise the TX which would not hurt either, you have plenty of head-room. -

You are approaching the upper threshold, but it most likely won't be an issue until the weather cools down. By winter you may be up in the 20's, and that will defiantly be an issue. Where did you install the amp? If you can, you may want to by-pass the cable modem line around the amplifier by installing a 2 way splitter at the input of the amp. One leg feeding the amp, the other feeding your modem. I have attached an ultra high quality diagram (made with MS Paint) to help explain.... -
Sweeeeeet!!! Just got home from work, back in business. Thanks, CA3LE--
-
That is AWESOME! I am ordering as we speak.
-
I understand- I don't think CA3LE wants to be contacted by the authorities and forced into an investigation.

And where do I find that site? lol, click click click, knock knock----

1024 X 768, with no issues like you described, organ_shifter. edit: I'm stupid: 1280 x 1024.

You know, I don't think you can get levels out of Toshiba modems. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. The pathping results should show alot more info than what's on your last post. BTW, it may show your computer name, which may be you're name, check that b4 you post it again. Try it again, it should compute the stats for at least 300 seconds or so, it takes time. It is kind of a stability test, computes over a longer time than tracert command does. Open the txt file attached below, it is an example of my results.

I hope this fixes the ActiveX extension. That has been annoying me for a couple weeks. I wonder how I can test that?

Could be intermittent noise on the line, or a levels issue. What brand modem? Can you give us your levels? If it a Motorola modem, go to http://192.168.100.1 and select the signal tab. Copy and paste back here (no personal info on that page). Are you running WinXP? If so, from command prompt, type 'pathping testmy.net' and let it do its thing. It will say "computing statistics for xxx seconds". Wait that out, and post that back here, all this assuming you have WinXP.

Simple answer, huhhhhh? Sorry, no offense, I just don't get it. BTW, watching Family Guy-----That's my Reality....Fantasy....

Actually his speed history shows those speeds. He went from ~4-5Mbps in early July up to ~15mbps on July 14. https://testmy.net/s_engine.php?type=user_name&q=lugensc Cox or Adelphia upgrade probably?

NICE! Who's your provider, and what plan?

Almost 23,000 hits/day on average! Heres some more stats: http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?&range=6m&size=medium&compare_sites=&y=r&url=testmy.net

It should open up the diagnostics page of your modem. It is actually generated from the Terayon modem, not the WWW. Here is an example from my Motorola modem: (sorry about the large size, couldn't shrink it and make it clear)

I'll jump on this boat, thanks, CA3LE, and mods!!!!

Cool UFO between the skyscrapers and the CN Tower.

Try this for diagnostics: If you have a Terayon TJ715, navigate to http://192.168.100.1/diagnostics_page.html to view the diagnostics. The password is: icu4at!

It does look like your router may be slowing you down a bit, or other traffic from another PC on the LAN. As for the receive level, the temperature has a large effect on the levels. My Rx is about 5dB higher at night; when the outside heats up during the day, it drops a few dB. That is normal, I am running between -3 and -8dB Rx, with no issues. Has your modem reset since you installed the new one?
-
I have also read that you need a minimum of 96kbps to work decently. Typical voice channel is 64kbps, then there's som overhead for most VOIP. I found a couple of older topics on the issue, below: https://testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=5815.0 https://testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=3863.0

I would wait to hear from other sattelite users, but I know the latency is an issue. The problem becomes noticable at about 500ms latency. You start sounding like the news reporters when they are reporting from Banda Aceh, for example. Anchor - So, are things getting back to normal?.................................... 1 2 3 4 5 Reporter -" Yes" 1 2 3 4 5 Anchor - "Good"

How 'bout a little more info, also. What brand of modem? Can you give us the info from diagnostics page (levels, SNR, etc) Do you have a router/hub in line. Wired or wireless; all these will help.
