OK, statedace3, how many times are you going to post that bogus cached test? I wouldn't have said anything, but I count 6 different posts (I lost track), and you are acting serious..... EDIT: now I count 9.....

The signal travels at approximately 85-88% the speed of light in standard coaxial cable. This is called the Velocity of Propagation; which is basically the speed of the signal relative to the speed of light. --slapping myself-- OK - out of scientific mode- fikester; That $155 million is mine, all mine!!!!!!

Actually, you need to wait for the thing to finish. It will say "computing statistics for xxx seconds". Wait for that to finish, and then mark it, copy, and paste it here. It will look like this stuff below: Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600] © Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp. Welcome to the forum, hickyboy First, it sounds like you have a bigger problem than slow broadband. Even if there's a problem with your service, it should not lock up your PC. How about some more info, who is your service provider, and what level of service (speed) do you subscribe to? Also, read this: https://testmy.net/forum/t-2097 And one more, go to your command prompt: - type "pathping testmy.net" - wait a few minutes for the test to complete - then post your results back here This might give us a little more info to go on.

Just found some new video of more lights over Pheonix. I think they look like flares, but if they are, then the plane dropping them has no beacons running. I myself think that there's no way we are alone in this universe, but 99.9% of these sightings we hear about are probably BS. CA3LE, what do the locals think? I figured some Comcast users were doing there own thing, so why not us Cox users? I have the 4000/512 plan, and consistently score above those numbers. Curious if other Cox users score above there advertised speeds as consistently as I do. :::.. Does Earthlink re-sell cable modem service in your area? Who is the actual cable company there? The actual docsis service must be through them.

I'd say you can't go wrong with the Motorola SB5100. I see very few problems with these modems. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16825122104

It doesn't look Terayon gives that info. Those are just the 2 main modulation types used in Docsis right now. 64QAM data rate is about 30Mbps max, and 256QAM is about 43Mbps max. That is the total data rate for every modem on that particular card in the headend. But, you levels look very good: -1.9dB Receive, and a 48.5dB transmit. SNR 35dB. Couldn't ask for better levels at the modem. -
Yeah, it reminds me of that guy in all the 'As Seen on TV commercials' YOU HAVE TO TRY OXYCLEAN, IT IS THE BEST CLEANER EVER!!!!!!! THE REACHER GRABBER THING IS THE GREATEST INVENTION EVER!!! Anyways, no big deal. BTW, MavRickz, what's your advertised speed from your isp?

dn0 replied to Tristan9669's topic in XFINITY (Comcast Cable Communications)
The node is where the fiber optics run to, and there the light is converted back to RF and sent out to the homes via coaxial cable. usually there are around 500-1500 homes passed (not necessarily active) per node. Can you get into the diagnostics of your Terayon modem? I am curious if they are running 64QAM or 256QAM downstream. Some modems will tell you that. Try these steps below and see if it might tell you the 'modulation type': Q: How can I view my cable modem's signal quality or error logs? (#7363) A: Most cable modems have built-in diagnostics for getting information on the quality of the cable signal coming to the modem. The procedures for accessing these diagnostics vary depending on the brand and model of cable modem you have. If the information below won't get you to these diagnostics, please contact the manufacturer of your cable modem (be it leased or owned). A few modems may have this information in the manual that they came with. For some cable modems, you can access these diagnostics even if the cable modem hasn't obtained block sync. 1) Try this first: Open your browser and navigate to http://192.168.100.1/'>http://192.168.100.1/ (or try holding SHIFT key and clicking the links). This is the most common method of accessing the diagnostics. You may need to navigate a bit from here to access the pertinent information. o 1.A) If you have an Ambit cable modem, you may be prompted for a username and password. The username is root and the password is also root. Some Ambit cable modems have the information you are after on more than one web page. o 1. If you have a RCA cable modem, you may need to navigate to http://192.168.100.1/'>http://192.168.100.1/moreInfo.html to view the diagnostics. o 1.C) If you have a 3Com cable modem, you may need to navigate to http://3comcablemodem.com or http://49.112.50.65 to view the diagnostics. A note about 3Com cable modems: they are notorious for reporting erroneous information, and sifting out the values you will be interested in will be difficult at best. Also, some 3Com modems will prompt you for a username and password, which are User and Password respectively. o 1.D) If you have a Terayon TJ615, navigate to http://192.168.100.1 and type icu4at! at the password prompt (or copy paste it from here). To see the signals go to http://192.168.100.1/'>http://192.168.100.1/modemRfPage. If you cannot access the status page at http://192.168.100.1 (main menu) reboot the cable modem, wait for it to synch and then try. The reboot may be necessary due to the fact that the status page was an afterthought o 1.E) If you have a Terayon TJ715, navigate to http://192.168.100.1/'>http://192.168.100.1/diagnostics_page.html to view the diagnostics. The password is icu4at! o 1.F) If you have a Scientific Atlanta modem, go to http://192.168.100.1. The username is admin and the password is w2402 o 1.G) If you have a SMC8013 gateway, (Business customers) go to http://10.1.10.1. The username is cusadmin and the password is highspeed Thanks to mbernste See Profile and SolarPup -

Ahh, sounds like you probably have a lot of traffic in your node. Maybe time that Comcast should consider splitting it. What brand and model of cable modem do you have? -

I see, that's cool. I had wondered which episode that was from until I saw it 2 weeks ago. I never knew that it was leaked. Well anyways, back on subject: Hope you get your speed problem corrected soon. BTW; have you checked your modem levels? -

Off topic, sorry, but Tristan9669; where did you find your Sig? I noticed it's from the first episode of the new season, and you had it long before that episode aired. -
? directed at me? Or am I an idiot.(which is very possible)

To be honest, I have been helping in the search for ET so that they can solve all of Humankind's problems. OK, seriously, I would join the FAD team also. Seti@Home has gotten over 2 yrs of my cpu time. It is time to use the cpu for a better cause. Does this program run as the screensaver like seti@home does? My seti@home stats:

Nice; never heard of "usadatanet.net". How much do you pay/month.
-
Got to them by IP: http://216.239.39.99/ Must be DNS issue.

Looks like they are down hard. They must deploy more than one server? Maybe a DNS F up?

Looks like you have a router (192.168.1.1). Have you tried first just rebooting, or power cycling the router to see if it renews the IP. And second, HOW did you contact Testmy.net? Another connection? Hmmm. Edit: I know, has 2 PC's on a router. I would still re-boot the router b4 going 2 far.
