So dell makes there own motherboards? I thought they used after market. Or the system name is embedded in the bios somewhere. I thought that would give you the info you wanted.

Can you take a screenshot and post it like I did above?

Just found something: Open command prompt and type 'dxdiag' at the prompt. This should open the DirectX diagnostic program. Under 'System Model' should be your motherboard model. Try this and post back.

I am not sure. I built mine so I know what it is. Maybe someone who is viewing this topic can explain how to find out about your board without opening up the PC.

Definitely the motherboard. DO NOT install it if your motherboard is not Intel. mine is an Intel D845EBG2 board with a P4 2.53 GHz processor.

I guess I was lucky. I installed it about a year and a half ago and have had zero problems It has alarmed a couple times with voltage issues, so I guess it has done its job. BTW, haven't heard from 24kbps for a while......hmmm.
  7. Ahhh. A liitle too big. Shrink it, and problem solved, thanks php.
  8. Mine is also a jpeg. It was a little confusing. After you browse for and find your picture, you press 'open', correct? That is when it should show the location of the pic in the box. This is where I clicked in that box, and placed a flashing cursor at the end, then I pressed 'enter', and it worked.

    This should be it... http://www.intel.com/design/motherbd/active.htm
  10. You need to press enter I believe after the pictures location is shown in the box. That threw me off for a while, I assumed that you uploaded the pic and then updated your profile. But my pic never showed up, until I browsed for it, and then hit 'Enter'.
  11. And all your levels look pretty good. Your downstream frequency is 693.00 MHz, well below the 1 GHz rating of that splitter. 9 dB is approaching the high end on receive levels, but we usually don't see any problems until it hits 14-15dB.
  12. Heres what mine looks like, with a Surfboard SB4200...
  13. I'm wondering, mine works right through my router. What model of Moto modem?
  14. Most CATV systems bandwidth is from 54MHz up to 750MHz, and some 860MHz. The upstream is from 5 to 42MHz, or so. So therefore a 900MHz splitter is just fine. Do either of you have Motorola modems? If so, type 192.168.100.1 in the address bar, and hit the signal tab. Copy and paste the info from that page and re-post here. It will tell us exactly what the downstream and upstream frequencies are that your ISP is using.
  15. Although I have dreamed of being in Shug 7272's shoes, I am a lowly CATV network maintenance tech. I miss the days of plain old analog video.

Do you have an Intel board? I downloaded Intel Active Monitor after I accidentally found it. It works quite well.
  18. Try this link to NewEgg.com. It has a bunch of antenna choices; you will need to keep the connector style in mind when matching an antenna to your router. http://www.newegg.com/app/SearchProductResult.asp?Submit=Go&DEPA=0 Edit: whoops, let me fix this....... Sorry, try going to www.newegg.com and type "antenna" into the search field.
  19. I'm not an expert, but I can easily reach 300 feet out of my home to the park across the street with my DI-524 wireless router and Toughbook at the other end. This is with the standard factory antenna. You can pick up directional high gain antennae quite cheap ($30-$40) that should easily reach that distance with little degradation.
  20. Cablecos will eventually be using multiple downstreams simultaneously to dramatically increase speeds.(Docsis 3.0) There are also some Docsis 2.0 products that can do this now, but they are basically proprietary (i.e.expensive) right now. I think they'll eventually deploy fiber, also.
  21. Good One, just-. :haha: Happy Easter.
  22. Actually, here is the winner of that contest.
  23. It does look like he's welding his tank. Strike 2.
  24. Hey philp, is this part of the ASE Certification? :whaa:
  25. Not a problem... Too bad about the address, mine is my basic initials, and I picked it up 2 days ago. Might want to remove your new address, but I would leave the Stank.Ho one, let em get spammed....
