i wonder how they are going to meet faa regs on evacuation? i know airbus had a helluva time designing escape slides that would work from the upper deck in moderate to high winds. the blended wing puts pax way in the middle of the aircraft structure, the only access would be through the middle of the leading edge of the wing.

i'll take it you are paying for 5 meg. if you get more than that it's because often a modems cap will be slightly higher than the advertised speed. if you tweak a connection that has a good link you can hit that cap in the modem and actually be faster than what you pay for.

microsoft does. it's called automatic updates...

100 pixels is still only a tenth of a percent on a 1280x1024 panel. i bet they have moltipliers for bright vs dark out pixels and for being further in the middle. glad you found a good panel. edit is that that 19 inch panel that rotates, the one with the usb hub, tv tuner etc?

you are apparently entering an extension. if the new filename is like this "newfilename.bbb" then it gets the extension bbb. this is of course unknown to windows and it asks you. rename it to "newfilename.wmv" for example or whatever type of file it is.

that was probably an artificial postcountbooster, just like yours...

they probably fir the profile of probable copyright infringers. so they got sued.

there is a policy as per each manufacturer as to how they guarantee their displays. there are 2 kinds of out pixels. the black ones (which is better because it is not as noticable) and the always on bright pixel. position on screen also plays a role. figure 1280 by 1024. 1.2 million pixels. some manufacturers guarantee 0 pixels out, some will make you live with a dark or two, depending on the position onscreen, and some cheapo type displays might not be willing to swap unless you have some center pixels out. swap the gateway again, maybe 3 is the charm.

ok. 5.5 no updates. might as well run 4 or 5 then on a win95 machine with no updates. if they don't run the latest patch, thats just stupid...

the problem isn't the browser. the problem is people not running any kind of protection and surfing with admin rights.

Gaming and Verizon Wireless Card (VZAccess)

then have him test speed here, have him ping and tracert and pathping for you to check out the latency. -
ie for me. the system needs it anyway, it works ok. i don't see the point in installing a second or third browser. (especially an opensource one, but that's a personal preference)

well, for the most commone ways to kill a pc, here's my votes. http://www.fiftythree.org/etherkiller/ i have seen an etherkiller in action.

Gaming and Verizon Wireless Card (VZAccess)
resopalrabotnick replied to drquack11223's topic in Verizon
the signal travels from the card to the tower via the concentrator to the backbone. usually not longer or shorter (on average) than a wired connection. latency increases are possible due to packet retransmissions because of poor signal/interference. compared to pointing a dish at the heavens and praying the signal bounces off the moon to reach d-way or wildblue the latency will be low as hell. -

i get an improving our site to serve you better on that link. if you are going to shove it into a pci pcmcia adapter you will more than likely /have/ to have an external antenna, since the pc will pretty much shield/interfere with the cards signal. -

post a link to specs. do you have to use that card or is there a choice? -
Forced to purchase direcway...
resopalrabotnick replied to drquack11223's topic in HughesNet (DIRECWAY)
anything that is terrestrial is better than bouncing your packets off the moon with d-way or wildblue. you might be able to get a card for the cellular hookup with a connector for an external antenna. that way you can point a directional one at the nearest tower (fixed house installation) and increase the stability of the link. -
to jump on that again, edits take place not just for spelling or grammar but to append content to the post. i would be happy if i could add ps'es to my posts forever, wouldn't mind not being able to touch the existing post.

it's not really the condensation that is the problem with an a/c box. the air gets cooled by the a/c. that raises the humidity of it to and past 100 % anything over 100% condenses on the a/c. once the humid air gets heated in the pc by the components the humidity drops. no condensation. (the only condensation occurs when you shut off the a/c and the cool parts inside the case get hit by warm humid outside air which will condense on them) i think the biggest problem with that is the noise level.

good idea.

vhs has more uses than dvd. have you ever tried tying somebody to your bumper with a dvd? won't fly. but use a trusty 300 minute vhs tape and you have enough tape left over to tie a decorative ribbon.

even for a gaming comp i think it's a good bet to start out with a retail box. you get lots of little bells and whistles for practically free (card readers, removable drives and the like) plus a windows license and depending on the bundle other software (usually a word and works, maybe an av subscription or other stuff. remember that if you want to run the system legal the winxp home license alone will bite you to the tune of 200 bucks. it's free in a box. pick a box from one of the vendors that has most of the kit you want in it then upgrade it with storebought parts, sell off any excess parts on e-bay.

and why not? it's easier to lower ambient and let the normal fans do their work than to go and equip hundreds of comps with water cooling. if you did that i think the odds say that every day you would have at least one or two leakers. not to mention the fact that water cooling also relies on a low ambient temp for the radiator. water cooling is just more efficient at removing large amounts of heat quietly. but these are all stock machines, so they don't require special cooling. (good air cooling works as well as water cooling. water cooling is just quieter and 13373R)
