  1. Yes Ive had the same thing happen I have WinXP and I'm usually pretty lucky with restore ,but it does suck its just a little better than nothing,From what I can tell when this happens its due to fragmentation to the registry. I do have a program that works pretty good its just not a full restore and if I have it loaded and I use Win restore it corrupts the files so there no good. I guess I don't find it that big of a deal to format and start all over, or if you have more than one partition and keep the OS in one and everything else in another that seems to work good for many people. I think its just an individual thing how you want to set up your puter./also you can get a perfect restore if you use the backup from the install CD...it takes a lot of room but its a "virgin" copy if when all is well you make a copy I think your talking about the MAX..MTU setting allowed that tells the highest value to allow which is 1500. 2. Cobra, Man that is sick........best one I've seen very cool nice job Microwave
  3. A T1 ckt was originally designed for phone systems, basically a T1 has 28 channels that allowed a business to essentially have 28 lines and not pay the charge for 28 different telephone numbers.also they used it for DID (direct inward dialing) so when someone called a business they got system dialtone and dialed the persons extension. The advantage was a company could give each employee their own pvt telephone number (up to 99)without again getting individual 1FB'S from the telco. There was a big battle when this first started with the phone company saying they were getting cheated out of revenue,in fact it was them screwing the customers. When the computer age got revved up and people weren't happy with 56k the Interconnects said, hey we can show you a cheaper faster way to network your remote offices and save money.Of course it has continued to evolve, but T1's are still in widespread use and have continued to change the way company's operate. The next thing that changed the integration of phones to computers was VOIP,and it will continue to evolve, just like when voice mail came into common use,all this is,is a P.C. with a voice board integrated to a phone line......Amazing to me is the old stuff is still out there in use, there a still a few businesses that are using a machine that uses an 8track tape as a call sequencer.....lol Microwave

  5. Speedy Final, The place I would start is to see which modem my ISP recommends, and is there really a reason to replace??after I found that out I would make a decision if what that said is something I would want to use or not.A few years back a friend had a lot of modem trouble and his ISP said it was his modem causing the problem, so since my friend wasn't a tech kinda guy I suggested he buy one from them so if he had a problem it would be up to them to fix. As it turned out he never had anymore problems and as I remember the price was close to what he would have paid if he had bought it from another supplier.Of course as you know there are many good brands:) Microwave

  7. Telephone lines are D.C. thats why when the electric goes off we still have phones because of massive array of batteries in the C.O... and it is 90 volts at the R.J.11c in your house or within specs............... copper telco lines have many problems which will never make them any more useful then they are now ....in my opinion:) Microwave

  22. lildawgryan, I had a Motorola when I first got broad band from COX and it often acted squirrelly (is that a word) so after a short while I got a Toshiba PCX 1100U which COX recommended at the time and they support. I have had the Toshiba hooked up for over a year and a half without any problems,we have a Linksys at my brothers that seems to work ok....good luck and let us know how things work out:) Microwave
