  1. Welcome to the forum stevehas FIrst off are you using a router, and which one. Have you tried directly to the modem bypassing the router to see if it might be the culprit? Second what did you set the dial to on the Optimizer? Third what might be running in the background? Norton AV, anything besides the necessary items. click Ctrl+Alt+Delete will show runing processes. And you may stop their automatic turn on or off by going to start-run*type in "mconfig" and hit enter*click start up tab. Hope those worked. Also did you check in safe mode to do the cleaning? If not that will make a difference.
  2. dlewis23 didn't that new lappy come with volume control? I only stated I liked the tune.
  3. A poll was not necessary, really it is just a help question. Yes you do. If you want the settings to set in. If you are not ready yet, then you may wait. But otherwise Yes. Any settings you ever want to take effect will always require a reboot. Now I am not smarter, but I do know that one.
  4. Just don't use it if you are getting ready to take a speed test, it usually removes the TMN cookies. And I have to relog in just to post my speed. It will also knock you out of sites sometimes. But you should not have to run it more than once a day. Just use the other 2 the rest of the time.
  5. Another E-mail. I loved this one. My grandparents had this love. (I just don't know where the world lost it. It is a rare find today) It was a busy morning, approximately 8:30 a.m., when an elderly gentleman in his 80's, arrived to have stitches removed from his thumb. He stated that he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9:00 am. I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an hour before someone would to able to see him. I saw him looking at his watch and decided, since I was not busy with another patient, I would evaluate his wound. On exam, it was well healed, so I talked to one of the doctors, got the needed supplies to remove his sutures and redress his wound. While taking care of his wound, we began to engage in conversation I asked him if he had another doctor's appointment this morning, as he was in such a hurry. The gentleman told me no, that he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife. I then inquired as to her health. He told me that she had been there for a while and that she was a victim of Alzheimer's disease. As we talked, I asked if she would be upset if he was a bit late. He replied that she no longer knew who he was, that she had not recognized him in five years now. I was surprised, and asked him, "And you still go every morning, even though she doesn't know who you are?" He smiled as he patted my hand and said, "She doesn't know me, but I still know who she is." I had to hold back tears as he left, I had goose bumps on my arm, and thought, "That is the kind of love I want in my life." True love is neither physical, nor romantic. True love is an acceptance of all that is, has been, will be and will not be. Oh, by the way, peace is seeing a sunset and knowing who to thank. The happiest people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the best of everything they have! Now wasn't that great??
  6. This is Great. Only takes a minute. E-mail again. Something cool that Xerox is doing If you go to this web site, www.letssaythanks.com , you can pick out a thank you card and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq. You can't pick out who gets it, but it will go to some member of the armed services. How AMAZING it would be if we could get everyone we know to send one!!!
  7. So here goes another one by Jim, a friend of mine. I think he is trying to tell me I do not live far enough south. Damn it is pretty down there. And a nice tune. I actually left my speakers on high. http://mybeautifulamerica.com/BeautifulDixie.htm Hope you enjoy it. It was nice to me. Lucky dogs.
  8. IE6? Top of your browser*Tools*Internet Options*Delete FIles including Offline Content*OK*OK*test. Or disk clean up is the same thing I believe, at least that is what I am using for now in IE7. The new internet options wants a lot of things checked.
  9. Well don't that just bite. That is their lowest package : 15/2 ! How many ways can I say "UNFAIR". Well I guess that is enough. Nice ISP.
  10. Welcome to the forum Those are sick speeds. They look like satelite speeds backwards. [D/L is U/L] When is a tech suppoed to come out?? That really sounds like a bad install. or water in one of the main connection boxes, from the storm water. You might also check with the neighbors and see if they are having similar problems.
  11. Welcome to the forum Mr NiceGuy Are you sure you paid for that high of a package? I mean maybe the package you are paying for is not going up that high in D/L speed. Just a thought. If you are not sure, call your ISP and make sure.
  12. Yeah, it works fine on my end. So you used the update one? That is the same one I used, all went fine. But I do think I need too retweak mine, it seems to have slowed down a bit. Like Buntz said, try reloading it. And make sure nothing else is running at the same time. It might have copied corrupted.
  13. And so you now think insight is broadband Tim?
  14. Kinda like coknuck says, why not after I am done with it. But in the meantime it is all mine, and whoever I can catch up with. Now that is what I call getting even with them Bra Burners.
  15. Only problem is grandpa, I know you really are smart. Like me. No, sorry I meant your connection. Like TCP Optimizer or cablenut. Not the dish.
  16. Getting some pretty good speeds there grandpa, did you just tweak it not long ago? Like a couple of days or something? Never mind, are you still using the smart test grandpa? It never gives out proper speeds. Try the 2992 test. http://www.testmy.net/dl-2992 That 1496 test will always make it look faster. Hey no problem GdCoker. It happens all the time. Sometimes just to pick on us poor fella's. And jeff2153, those are real nice speeds.
  17. Your U/L is almost your satelite D/L. That must suck. Must be nice blinking, You lucky dog.
  18. Youu guys with insight finally got it made. Some day Dway will come out of the caves where internet was first built, and give us something.
  19. Welcome to the forum GdCoker First problem with that speed is you just posted in a satelite section of the forum with embarrassing speeds for us. The best freak speed has only been a little over 5 mbps. (cox.net) is in another thread. Not that we mind the comany, you just have to post your speeds in the cox threads. AND now you got slower started, and we all know it does not take much to get him started. He is one those wriled up satelite users. (you know, the ones that are known to shoot up post offices) Anyway, nice speeds, wish I had 1/4 that much speed regularly.
  20. Welcome to the forum pmc_762 I assume you have restarted the modem, cleaned out your cache (temporary files), defragged your hard drive, and did error checking? http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-4257 Have you also checked out using WIndows Defender, AVG Free anti-virus and spyware, or Spyware Blaster. Also have you tried running any of these in safe mode? Try some of those and post back any info you might need. Good luck.
  21. 2 ways. 1)Disk Clean Up. Mine is in startup. or in Start*all programs*accesories*system tools. I also check everything in the boxes. 2)Top of browser(assuming IE6)*Internet Options*Delete Files Including Offline Content*OK*OK*test. Either way should work about the same. Or ccleaner registry cleaner, it's much stronger though. Oh, and I defrag everyday before I even start up the computer, including disk clean up. Plus restart the modem. It is just daily. And only take a couple of minutes.
