  1. I was hoping to have linux installed by now, but I was having some trouble with the vista bootloader not loading properly after a fresh install which seems to be fixed now after deleting the boot entry and allowing vista to rebuild it via the dvd. Just got the old drive hooked up and I am reformatting it now
  2. The way I see it, if your to lazy to try and figure out how to use something yourself by means of searching google or any other means, then you shouldn't bother with it. When I ask a question I expect the answer to be the way they would do it. I don't expect it to be dumbed down or anything. If theres something I don't understand, then thats where google comes in. You can find almost anything through google.
  3. Little problem. I currently have 4GB of ram (1GB X 4) in my system and have been getting random bsods in vista 32 bit with something about memory management. I ran the vista diagnostics tool and it apparently founds errors. I ran memtest86 and it found no errors. Anyone have any ideas?
  4. bad news is I didn't have any SATA cables laying around so I had to get one from newegg, and it shipped from the CA warehouse for some reason when I am in PA. So i'll get the new hard drive tomorrow and then hook up the old hard drive on thursday and put linux on it.
  5. I've used Suse awhile ago, wasn't crazy for it. I think I'll give CentOS a try
  6. Well I got a new hard drive on the way from newegg, so I am going to wipe the old one and install vista on the new drive and linux on the old drive. The only problem is theres so many linux builds out there. Anyone have any recommendations?
  7. Looks like D-link just released a firmware update enabling what I wanted to do
  8. Not sure if this is possible or not, but I have a D-link DIR-655 router and a HP5610 printer. And I wanted to know if it was possible to hook the printer up to the USB port on the router and be able to set the printer up on multiple computers to print wirelessly
  9. I have the 8800GT right now and its a great card, can play all games with high settings beautifully including Crysis
  10. In my experience Samsung has excellent LCD monitors. I have a Samsung 226BW 22'' now
  11. Has potential, however I think I will be sticking with FF3 for now
  12. welcome to testmy.net, theres punch and snacks in the back...oh wait, theres no more. Sorry. Could someone go out and get more snacks? And a couple cases of beer? thanks
  13. I have used both utorrent and azurus...both gave me excellent download speeds. I do know however that some isp's do slow down torrents. Verizon doesn't, so I never usually have a problem. Also make sure you open up the ports in your router. That will make a big difference
  14. I have an HP Officejet 5610 and that thing goes through color ink like crazy, even when printing on the draft setting. I still love it though
  15. Its not really old, just the older revision i guess you could say. I found a brand new set (1GB x 2) on ebay for about 48 bucks with shipping though so that works.
  16. I think I'll just order a set of the old ones from ebay
  17. New ones: Tech Spec Capacity 2GB (2 x 1GB) Speed DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Cas Latency 4 Timing 4-4-4-12 Voltage 2.0V Old ones: Tech Spec Capacity 2GB (2 x 1GB) Speed DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Cas Latency 4 Timing 4-4-4-12 Voltage 2.2V
  18. So I've decided to add another 2 gigs of ram in my system to make it 4gb total. And I wanted to use the same brand and everything that I have now (Crucial Ballistix PC2 6400). However, they have made a revision to it from what I have now, they made the voltage 2.0v instead of 2.2v which is what mine runs at now. my question is will this cause any problems. And should I just change the voltage on all of them to make them all run the same?
  19. Coknuck: No, its not the first time i've installed a heatsink. But I've found the problem, it was with the genius push pin install by intel. The plastic pins were not down all the way, so I took it off and put it back on and made sure it was down all the way. Now im running at 30C with firefox and various other programs like skype open. Seems pretty good to me . Also, what i like to do is put a dab of AS on the heatsink then use a credit card to spread it out
  20. Well i was just playing call of duty, and the max temp was 86C, that doesnt seem right either
  21. So you think those temps are normal? real temp is showing 50C just with firefox open
  22. just a thin layer, i know your not supposed to put much on
  23. thats the heatsink im using right now...just installed it 15 minutes ago, maybe the arctic silver takes time
  24. Do these temps look ok to you? I am running a E6750 no overclock http://img391.imageshack.us/img391/6551/cputempfi8.jpg
  25. alrighty, thats what i though. thanks
