  1. Well, im trying to use speedfan to figure out what my cpu is running, but theres temps for CPU, CORE 0 and CORE 1...would I go by what the CPU temp says?
  2. Quad cores are more expensive, and most applications and games don't even utilize the full potential of the cpu yet
  3. I would be pretty pissed too if I bought an HD DVD player only to find out that the studios would stop releasing movies on them, and making it obsolete.
  4. The nice UPS delivery man just delivered my new 22'' LCD Samsung monitor today, and I think I am in love. I don't know how I ever got by using a 17'' CRT. This seems huge compared to that. I was playing CoD4 a little while ago, and it was amazing haha. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001096 The only problem though is that there Magictune thing isn't compatible with my 8800GT for some reason, but no worries, it looks awesome without it.

  6. Hi, As you may know, Christmas is coming up, which means TOYS!! Ok, so I wanted to buy a monitor. I was looking at a 24'' Acer for 389.99 http://www.buy.com/prod/acer-al2416wbsd-24-lcd-monitor-1000-1-1920x1200-5ms-dvi-silver/q/loc/101/204523945.html I have never owned anything by Acer before though, and was wondering how good of a company are they, and how reliable are there products? My next choice would be a 22'' Samsung for 309.99 http://www.buy.com/prod/samsung-226bw-22-widescreen-lcd-display-1000-1-dc-3000-1-2ms-dvi-black/q/loc/101/204021909.html Thanks
  7. You don't need PCI Express 2.0 as its backwards compadible with 1.0
  8. Newegg has em for 7 bucks. The only reason I want one is to update the bios and avoid double boot
  9. Up and running on my new computer. Having some trouble with the floppy drive though, its detected, but it wont load floppy's, its pretty old so it might not even be working properly.
  10. Toothpaste never worked for me either.
  11. And I am so excited, I have the 8600GT from Evga now, and I just put my request in to step up to the 8800GT for 150 bucks
  12. So when I get the OS disk, do I just pop that in, load the OS from the CD and then reformat?
  13. Got it working, I had to do something with the jumpers before it would work.
  14. Thats what I love about TMN, you almost always get an answer I was beginning to worry that it was the processor because for some reason I thought you could access the bios without the hard drive
  15. I just got done installing the motherboard, processor, heatsink, ram, and video card, thinking I would be able to access the bios to see if the cpu installed correctly, but all the does is beep at me and there is no display. Is this just because the hard drive wasnt hooked up you think?
  16. Ok. Well, the OS will be here monday. Do you suggest I reformat the hard drive on the computer I am using now, or wait until I transfer it into the new case, and then reformat it?
  17. Ok, i didnt want to have to, but I guess I'll just order the retail OS
  18. But, if I reformat, wont that wipe out the entire hard drive, including the OS? And I don't have the retail DVD's. Just compaq recovery disks
  19. Meh, I am so used to Vista now, its pretty good
  20. Well, the stuff will arrive tommorow, so I will find out then. If the OS will not load it looks like I will be spending another 95 bucks on Vista.
  21. I was just talking to compaq, and they seem to think that they would work.
  22. No, I have also bought a new case because I wanted an ATX size instead of micro-atx. The motherboard I have now is: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813135051&Tpk=945gct And the motherboard that I am upgrading to is: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813127031 I also have disks from compaq that would reinstall the entire operating system if need be. Which isnt a problem, I just dont want to have to end up ordering Vista
  23. Hi guys, You may have remembered a few months back i got a compaq computer for an insanely cheap price. Well, i've done some upgrading and just ordered a new motherboard and processor. I will be keeping the same hard drive, but i've heard that the operating system will only work on the motherboard it was activated on. Is this true? Thanks
  24. Something in your monitor could have been fried as well from the power surge. Do you have any other monitors around you can test it on?
