  1. When did I say someone would play BF2 with a 16mb card?
  2. I didn't say ALL games..but if you read the specs on alot of games, ALOT require 64mb and recommend 128mb..For some Yes 32mb is fine or even 16mb... I am just saying games like Battlefield Special Forces for ex. wont run... 16mb is on the extreme low end at this point(for a large amount of games), and would not be excessive to update to at least a 64mb card..
  3. Try opening the console while it is loading...and watch the console log, and see what is says....Take a screen shot if you can..
  4. I would update, seeing that most new games won't even run with a vid card under 64mb...and they recommend 128mb on most..
  5. most games have a console function...usually the "~" key(you may have to enable the console in the options of the game)..while trying to get into server open the console, and it should give you an error..Possibly there is a ping limit on the server? Or maybe they have as mod/map you don't have...
  6. I can't read whats behind that line....Hmm
  7. Good to hear... Possibly the Power supply went, and fried your motherboard?
  8. With router connected- Open your network connections, right click on the network connection you are using and click 'status', then on top right, click 'Support', then choose 'details'. This will show you your physical address(mac address), IP Address, Subnet, Gateway, etc.. Depending on the router, you may have the option to place pc's in the DMZ using Mac Address, or by IP address...I prefer Mac Address, but if you don't have that option, just use the IP Address you find under status. Enable the DMZ, and your pc should now be in the DMZ, and all port forwarding problems should be resolved..(note you are now open to the internet, and lose the firewall capabilities of the router).
  9. NICE!!! That convinces me I NEED to upgrade....Thank god for after christmas sales!
  10. Time to get the 6800Ultra... And yeah it does look like higher resolution produce higher numbers..(thats max for me cause my monitor sucks) Brand/Model NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700LE Resolution 1280x1024 pixels Colors 16 million DirectX version 5.03.2600.2180 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158) OpenGL version 5.1.2600.2180 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158) Acceleration options Enabled Performance 111.02 MP/s (No similar CPU/MHz/video)
  11. Competition.... We had only Cablevision(Optonline), for the longest time...No DSL, only OOL or Dial up(lol not). Luckily my town got chosen for FIOS, and as a promo they offerred us the 30/5 for $55 for 12 months..(we shall see what happens in a year)...Cable was 10/1(which they just bumped up to 15/2 here for free to try and stop the flood of customers leaving), for $49...So we jumped on Fios...So happy we did... :::.. 13. http://www.pcpitstop.com/ I use it all the time...Gives info on actual processor clock speed, memory speed, hard drive speed, graphics, etc. Will also find known software conflicts, and give you hints on improving performance.. (the internet speed test is a little off for me..doesn't show full speed). It has helped me test different drivers accurately, and pinpoint/repair various problems. For example: I had problem with slow hard disk read/write on one of my drives(which I found while running the test there).. I found problem to be with my chipset drivers, updated and boom, my speed was back to normal... Nortons will screw with the test, so disable it if you plan on running it...
  14. Yeah I hate that bundled crap..My friends pc had that...I told him to Fdisk that sucker and get all that crap off..He has no problems now..
  15. This may have been just coincidence, but I had a hard drive that was making all sorts of noises(mostly on boot up), constantly had bad sectors, etc...Finally, it decided it didnt want to boot anymore... I forget where I read it, but someone said to try throwing it in the freezer... Wouldn't you know it...I popped it in there...(then kinda forgot about it for a day), and to my amazement it worked, and made no noise...I reformatted drive, and to this day have not had a problem with it... Someone explained it has something to do with the physical expansion inside the hard drive from excessive heat, and by cooling it down quickly, it actually will shrink it back to its normal size... Like I said it could have been a freak coincidence, but it worked for me.... Went from about ready to toss a 60gig HD, to having it work like new...
  16. Yeah Fios Rocks...I'm one of the lucky ones on Long Island that has the 30/5 available...Not bad for $55 a month...
  17. possibly it was moved by the moderator?
  18. Can it really hurt to have a manual? I bet some of the people that would help you, would read it, just to help you out..(remember there are tons of different routers, and no one can know everything about every one of them...thats why they make manuals)
