well, though I am not 100% told about any of this, my guess would be that this is a "customer service" move... I myself am getting over 4 mbps and am only supposed to get 3mbps (my upload has stayed at 256 though and has not been effected) ~~ This is all since that post I made... cox has done some upgrades and has a little extra bandwidth, I'm not one to complain about that ~~ but I sure as hell am going to enjoy it while I have it

Exactly! Norton has firewall software in that suite I believe. Disable it when testing, otherwise you will not be given an auth code when testing. The way that my results script checks the authenticity of a post is by checking to make sure that the request for results is posted by testmy.net (and no someones home computer trying to cheat)... proxy and firewall software can mask the referer ~ Although, hardware routers will have no problem getting clean results. I also do this because of proxy software that will cache the download files and show higher results than they should be. Let me know if turning off norton fixed it for you - Damon

Can you post a score of yours from the SmarTest ??? Lemme see what I can do. The reason I don't make my larger sizes public is because of bandwidth... when you have hundreds of thousands of tests ran per month, bandwidth becomes quite an issue to deal with. Also with the SmarTest I am adjusting that every now and then, I need to find a happy configuration that will forward the right people to the right test sizes. If your line is that fast, the last test you test from should be about 1.5 mB ~ and should display very accurate results... but hit the forum back up with your pasted scores (at the bottom of the results page) ~ and i will see what needs to be done...

I have a Radeon 9800 pro and LOOOOOOOVE it... but with the price range you posted i would persoanlly go with nvidia on this one (although I love ATI... for that price range nvidia is better) ~~~ you should really think about saving up a bit more and getting a 9800 pro (do NOT buy off of ebay, people are running scams on there... selling NON-PRO Radeon 9800 as 9800 Pro's ~~ they update the bios to make it appear to be a 9800 PRO ~~ I got jipped once, had a huge argument with the guy, loong story) but anyway you will be AMAZED at the difference another 100-200 bucks will make

You might try running speed optimizer and tring the various settings at the top ... top options say dial-up / DSL / CABLE .. and so on try different setting till you find one that fits you best...

63 Kb file.. I have no 63 Kb tests ~~~ post your score I am not quite getting your question. With the SmarTest you would be re-directed to a larger test size if you got "4850 kbps" ~~~ But your speed on cable, can be effected by other people in your area... 1 am they are sleeping ~

my RWIN is set to 256960 also... and I am running full throttle ~~ if you are getting a little lower or above your advertised speed... leave it alone
