  1. lol , is the weather that predictable , I never know if it is going to rain sleet or snow in the UK ,
  2. LOL , thanks, no recipe for making it though , Honestly the only drink that I saw the far side of the moon with , and got up for work next day , fresh as a daisy , as we say in the UK, Britain , has the worst alcohol abuse/ personal debt/ vandalism problem in Europe, our teenagers have just been voted the worst in Europe, sad times for Britain Good news on the backup regime , and great to see you have a partitioned H/D . I have been preaching Backup/partition for years, and never seen a topic devoted to that on TMN, but many on help, I have lost my files/os I do some light photo stuff, but 500Mb would have been enough for that , my main puter , I built 3 years back is a humble 2.7 Ghz athlon with 1Gb ram , vid card 128Mb nvidia, and I run a old puter , not online just for storage of important files, no plans to upgrade and run Vista, I only built this puter because I was given Xp as a present ,
  3. lol Storm311, great name, concidering the subject , is Evans in Colarado, Lattitude 40.deg. north , I am at 51 deg.north in the UK, is snow normal that far south ? LOL, I was sober at the time, I just went for a walk after eating dinner , but give the police their due, they were right , they also picked me up for jaywalking at 7 am , again they were very polite, they put me down as a English man , Btw I have a Swedish friend Gunn , who rekons our UK -C. is worse than back in Sweden , as it is a wet cold, ?, and the damp makes it worse, I guess she may be right, some years back our UK rail network came too a halt because the snow was of the Swedish type, made us all laugh at the time ,
  4. erh , thanks I think , but could you change the virtual "Lefse " for real Swedish schnapps , that is great beat the winter blues medicine , lol another 256Mb ram !, my first puter had a total of 8Mb ram (Win 3.1 ) I upgraded to 16mB and put win 95 on, I could cook my dinner while it booted so for me 700Mhz +128Mb ram +M.E. was bliss, a lot of my frebie customers are on 98/M.E. with 56Kb dial up, it suits their needs , so why change,
  5. lol , -3C, it's +12C miday, here in the UK (south ) , last time we had decent snow was back in 1977, things are definitely changing ,wetter but warmer in the UK winter, -30C in sweden I have been in Germany at -15C, but it was a dry cold unlike our damp UK cold which was -5c at that time, I got picked up by the local German police and was read the riot act for being out wearing a pullover and no coat ,they took me back to the Hotel, and asked the hotel manager to make sure I was properly dressed next time I went out , Yeah, looking back they were right ,
  6. Win M.E. gets my vote, I used it for 4 years , no BSOD, I found that drivers and programs written for Win 98 gave some problems in the early days , and I still run M.E. on my Dell laptop, I now run Xp pro. and find ASR it's main advantage, Compaq , OK, in my book, a computer is either a tool or a toy, a firm I worked for in 2004 was using Compaq with Win 95 with no problems, it did the job ,and was all they needed , BTW. whatever happend to Cholla ? I kinda miss his posts, especially the car topics, and his dial up help,
  7. No disrespect , but you have cheap fuel over your side of the pond , try paying $7.50 per gallon , It sure sharpens your perspective , suddenly funky ass looking cars don't look so bad , most European family cars now return 40MPG as a normal , none of my families cars return less than 45Mpg ,
  8. , trust Tommie ,my excuse is the English-USA translation
  9. hi Aggr3 you can PM me my G/f is away in the S. of France , visiting relatives , my wife has gone home happy after a family reunion , so all is peace and quiet at last, and the reserve is at midnight mass, so the pressure is off for the time being, You Guys dont know how much I suffer for my art
  10. ,. I aint got around to the divorce bit yet , we are trying a trial seperation , , it's been 14 years now , but I aint in no hurry, nor is the G/F , why rush these things

  12. I wish I could be your Santa tdawnaz , LOL , Merry Christmas Testmy.net members It is Christmas day here in the UK , Finally I have the advantage; Santa has told me he may have to miss the USA, As he is running short of time, he has had to turn off his nuclear turbo booster to help save the environment, so I have agreed to accept delivery of your prezzies , and I will Maybe , post them on in due course, Trust me I am a Brit, Sorry Ca3le your New Motorcycle will have to undergo stringent UK Gov, testing b4 being exported to the USA, it may take me all summer to complete these tests, Thanks Guys for your online time and company Have a safe and Merry Christmas Best regards Roco UK
  13. I use a $0.70 devise called diskrefresher , it holds the disk and rotates it while a little sponge pad rotates over the disk , it's hand operated by a little lever, you use some cleaning fluid (supplied) lol if the rented CD/DVD is that bad, refuse it , ask for a clean disk, you are paying the money, so why accept a faulty product
  14. Sorry to put a downer on this impractical car , for family use , Tandem seating never has proved popular , 3 wheeler , nothing wrong with that, but again unpopular , Gas Vapor technology ? all petrol engines are gas vapor burners anyway , Just some are more efficient at producing the vapor , normal % of fuel to air by weight is 14.7 of air to 1 of petrol (Stoichiometric ratio ) older engines from the 1960s required 12-1 ratio, modern lean burn engines of today can run at 18-1 ratio , but need added petrol ratio for starting and acceleration, Remember all petrol engines can run on Gas as well as petrol ,with little modification to the engine, I think the interesting bit here is their claim to be able to keep the flame burning at a ratio of 20-1 +, I can only guess they are heating the petrol just before injection and maybe adding a little water vapor to the mix , nothing new there . The biggest impact on fuel consumption is #1 rolling resistance , #2 weight , and over 60mph #3 air drag, Just about all European car manufactures have compact 4 seat family cars on the road as prototypes that are capable of 100 mpg And have had for some years (Citroen 1999 ) but the public are not ready for such Spartan economy cars just yet , but " times they are a changing " to quote Dillon added link .......http://driving.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,22750-1794324,00.html added another link ....http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/ecotech/economy4.htm just brought one of these for my daughter for Christmas ( $900 S/H ) after sevicing it I got 60 mpg, and checked out its top speed of 110 mph, Yeah , I am a trained car tech from way back, and specialize in Citroen's, so I know the tweaks , just wish I had the same knowledge with puters
  15. P.s. where is the Midlands is that up north, past the Watford Gap ? Hope you get a new cloth cap for Christmas , and how are the ferrets doing !
  16. I dont hang out in "show of your scores " remember I am with BT adsl , my UP to 8Mb with a pipex.com's estimate of 5Mb , runs at 2.2Mb on a good day yeah I am looking at cable for the future , but I have no real need for speed , so what I have is better than 56k dial up , and marginally better than my 256Kb service I had b4 this , anyway FiberOptic have a Merry Christmas /Seasonal Holiday
  17. Good news on the quiting smoking Tommie , your one up on me on that one that is my 2007 resolution , a pack of 20 now costs $9.50 in UK, so that is a added incentive to quit , and yeah a bit of weight lose would do me no harm either , as to getting single , I was thinking of going in the opposite direction , , well, the washing up and ironing is piling up some
  18. Yeah, it is nearly time to unwrap those dusty annual resolutions again , as 2007 fast approaches , Did any one make any last year ? More importantly did you keep them ? planing any for this year you want to share , we may be able to help you keep them I just been reading a international health report , about the health differences between the USA-UK http://search.ft.com/searchArticle?sortBy=datearticle&page=207&queryText=society+&y=2&javascriptEnabled=true&id=060901000990&x=14 part quote
  19. thanks Bro, but look what I found in my dusty collection not exactly a Christmas scene and the sad part is I can remember the film in 69
  20. Ewo thanks for sharing, we dont get to see such things over here in the UK, very stable, but just the odd flood from time to time, It's ok for me I live on top of a hill (68ft above sea level ) it don't take much altitude to get Hill taged on the end of the vilage name keep those memories going, I am allways interested in local history from around the world , the stuff that you dont get in the tourist guides , Regards Roco UK
  21. I guess it's all down to the wages , if you pay peanuts you only get apes
