Thanks for the comments guys , My new 8Mb broadband has finally settled at an average of 2.2 Mbps , just under the national UK average so I now have to decide what to do about it, I am tied to a years contract with my ISP,, for a up to 8Mb service, I have been given theire Bullshit about my up to speeds, I personaly think I should go for the throat , over this, as they cant produce the promised speed , or anywhere near it, yes or no ? thanks Just , I have checked with NTL/Telewest , I can get phone and 2Mb broadband for

Hi Wyantm06, Well in my view you are already on the way to weight loss, coz you are thinking about it, and that is were it all starts, in the head, you want to be slim. don't we all, you got to think slim, it wont happen overnight, but it will happen if you really want it , Just remember you can be what ever you want to be, Exercise, yeah that has got to be good , but don't think you can lift a few weights , run a couple of miles and then you will be slim, all you will be is hungry, start slow ,in both food and exercise, gradual changes, do it too fast and the body will overcome the will power , we are talking lifestyle changes forever here, just hold in your head, slim and healthy , it will be hard to start with but you will adapt given time to that being the normal life style for you, Fast weight loss can work, but tests have shown the loss doesn't last, as the body hasn't adapted to the sudden change, Talk to your Doc. tell him you are serious about weight loss, get a check up before starting strenuous exercise, Think about swimming or cycling , but don't do it just for the weight loss, do it because you enjoy it , coz nothing saps the will power more than doing something you don't enjoy if you go ahead with loosing weight, start a topic on it , we could all do with loosing a few pounds, Good luck and Regards Roco UK

hi Reso, your right it was a 2ton, 1.9ltr 4 cylinder petrol 148bhp +auto box I kid you not , a Renault Kangoo van loaded with tools and ladders on the rack, left me for dead at the lights , there I was in the overtaking lane watching the van disapear up the road Hi Tommie , Mini SUV known as Chelsea Tractors around here, the only time they go off road is when the park on the pavement outside the wine shop, BTW, you can buy cans of artificial spray on mud, so it can make the suv look like it has been on a adventure the one thing that is king on the UK roads ,has got to be light and fast acelerating, and this Honda certainly wasn't , and for it's off road capabilities, nah, I would not even think of it, the first bit of soft ground it would sink to it's axles and not have the grunt to climb out, IMHO

Yeah , I was about to agree with you Tommie , But the Bars**%ds have slapped the 2 gig limit on, but I have kept my 3 email addresess , I normaly use 1.8gb a month, but with all this new found speed and testing everywhere, I am going to go over this month, so another $5 for a additional 3Gb , I normaly only go over when reloading someones puter (updates and drivers etc,) so I guess I will have to start charging them , BTW I am not getting email notification from Testmy net since the problems, any one else getting that ? my email is working ok apart from that ,

Hi Just , Yes you are right about phone line cost from BT, and yes BT has a poor record, that is what becomes of being a monopoly for so long, I am sure cable is the way to go, but I I still havent found a referance to NTL doing phone and broadband Without TV, If they do that I might give it a go, My prediction of no more than 1.8Mb on my line has been proved wrong , I am pleased to say, although the speeds have been all over the place for the last few days , but have now seemed to have settled at :::.. testmy.net test results ..::: Download Connection is:: 2905 Kbps about 2.91 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Download Speed is:: 355 kB/s Upload Connection is:: 151 Kbps about 0.15 Mbps (tested with 386 kB) Upload Speed is:: 18 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Server 1) Test Time:: 2006/10/10 - 5:11am D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-OX50BR2VQ U-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-LN70AVG6C User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; Maxthon) [!] in the UK I have seen 3.6Mb also the same to Germany once the smoke has cleared I will try some changes to rwin currently set to 128480 with mtu 1500,

Today I drove a Honda cr-v auto , just wish I hadn't, lol , what a load of uninspiring over weight piece of crap, from the plastic trim to it's lousy performance, ( got beat off the lights by just about every comercial ) now I know how the captain of the Titanic felt. , marks out of 10 , from me a 2 , and that, just for making the trip problem free,

I am running Xp pro and use auto system recovery , updated every month , this works well for me, but at the end of the day , a new install from time to time is IMHO not such a bad thing, so any back up has got to be good, most people only think of that 10 mins after the problem has struck also a partitioned hard drive, or even better a second hard drive is a must for me , after a clean install and driver, antvirus etc. update ,I make a ASR back up, and save as my first ASR backup,

Thanks for the link Reso.... , but as a boat it is nothing special, and as a aeroplane it seems crap, I have never seen a dual porpoise machine that really cuts the ice, can anyone show me a tool or toy that truly is top of the class, doing more than one thing , apart from my tool

thanks Reso.... happy enough with 3 email addresses, my ISP has moved me up to a connect speed of 3.8Mbps , and UK speed tests indicate I am getting 3.5Mb down and 330 Kbps up , but my telco ( British Telecoms )exchange is listed as being updated soon , so I guess this makes my prediction of no more than 1.8 Mb was wrong, Thanks, Pipex.com , my ISP, never had a problem with them in 3 years, only used their support once , by email , the responce was excellent, and they kept me informed daily of the problem (telco) and a free dial up connection for the duration ,

Hi Just, I dont have a real problem as such , just winding my ISP up, as I am tired of the up to 8Mb broadband speil, all the adsl providers have leapt on this bandwagon, mine came back with congratulations you can get 5Mb on your connection, so I upgrade and get 1.8Mb, I know full well my line is only good for a max of 2Mb, after a short argument they have let me keep my 3 mail boxes and no download limit , and the 2Mb speed , LOL for the same price of my 256Kb service , I didn't think they would roll over that easy There was a interesting article in the Times newspaper abouit rip off 8Mb adsl broadband in the UK, the average speed is 2.4 Mb Ntl the 4Mb sevice is

just a update to my post #6, the start date for my 8Mb sevice came and went , nothing changed , still running at around 1800 Kbps , more or less what I expected, I will hold fire till the weekend , as tests to the USA, are all running very slow , not just Testmy.net, although my tests to Europe and UK (home ) are OK , but they are just confirming my current speed 1850Kbps, no doubt my Isp will say I have a computer problem, malware etc , so just reformated and did a clean install of my spare puter , still got the same results , P.S. to the guys reporting slow speeds on Testmy.net, are you getting the same results from other sites ?, coz I am, all seems OK at the moment 23.45 hrs Gmt but I was getting this earlier on the forum

Still having problems over here, all very sloooow, (9 am GMT) no spell check or preview ,

Wow, ISPgeek ,I guess that puts it all into perpective for me , $89.95 for a keyboard wired and tested, $100 in 1978 would have been 4 weeks wages for me, + being in the UK I could nearly double that price , I didn't get started till 1999 , bought my first store puter from Staples ($1080) that was the last store built one , the rest have been brewed at home, Regards Roco UK
