During the after-effects of Katrina - some of the emergency foodstuffs being handed out to us contained cans of Beef Stew that had a self heating enclosure around the can(factory made) that you just poked holes in the top of to let in air to activate the chemicals. That stew got so dam hot you had to watch out for it. Stew was good, too. Just a real life experience. FWIW Broke the monotiny from all the MRE's.
