LMOA, I know they get pissed, funny as hell, I like to call them just to get my monies worth these days! lol
-
So your saying size really does matter?
-
No No No, there goal is for us to have different slow speeds, not the same slow speeds! lol
-
Direcway probably use a 5 kb file to do there test with LOL, makes it look good......

Slightly off the beaten track here but I just noticed the google ads that appear on the left, now what did catch my eye is.... we are all slamming DWAY and the google ads are trying to sell it to us! LMAO Sorry, I was reading this and it was there, I just had to say something about it, ok now I will go and download something real slow, just to confirm DWAY sucks fat hairy b**ls

I know where New Dehli is, i just thought it was an outsourced calling center seeing as they transfer you to level 2 over here! Man If I knew what I know now, direcway would not have been an option, not for the prices we pay, I got better upload speeds on my modem, and the speeds they told me is inacurate, they told me 50 kb up and 500kb down avaerage, still waiting to see this. In my opinion thats false advertising.

Are you telling me direcway is run/owned by a bunch of towel heads?

The main thing to remember here as stated above, PRIME TIME..... We all used whats called shared bandwidth, which means if you and I have a 100 mb connection and I am downloading a big file at same time as you, we are going to share that 100 mb connection, 50/50, now if 100 people are using it, you can guess what happens. Playing with TCP optimiser and cable nut will increase your packet sizes to your DW6000, but will not increase your overall connection speed to the network, in my eyes and I am going to get flammed for this one, shared bandwidth is the key, the more users the slower we go, the less users, the faster we go. Maybe we need to have less users per bird and more birds for users?

Number of Failed Transmissions 29541 this is getting worse, what does it mean?
-
Whats your signal strength and weather conditions where you are at.... are you connected direct to the DW6000, do you have a router, are you using IE or Firefox?

Some information on dish pointing..... My installer was happy to tell me all about the system when he was here, this is what he told me about pointing the dish.. The pointing of this DW6000 dish or any dish on the DW system is very fine, he told me that it is not like pointing a direct TV dish, its more precise, its more like a pin dot rather then a target, reason is, the satelitte is beaming down all across the US, but when we transmit back to it we are aiming the dish at a satelitte some 28,000 miles away that is not much bigger then my house! He also told me that if moved it will fail for many reasons, one of them being bleeding aver into another cell on the satelitte, not sure if that is bull or what, I cant say, I am not an expert in this. So if you attempt to make adjustments to your dish, MARK where it was first on both planes, you may need to change the up down as well as the left right, make very small fine changes and watch your signal indicator, your best bet is to buy a signal meter with a needle, not sure if they work with DW dishes but I got one to line up my TV dish, I know different system, thats why I dont know if it will work. Best of luck to you.

Sounds to me he bought it to begin with, I bought this 6000 system and cant go to a 4000, it stands me in some $700 and I just cant throw that away, I am happy with the download speeds now, its the upload I have issues with, I called DWay before I bought this system and they told me its an average of 500 down and 50 up, now the 50 up was better then my dial up, seems like its about the same and they will not do anything about it. I heard from my installer that d-way is working on the upload speed to match download speeds, maybe equal it out a bit, I dont know if he was blowing smoke up my ass or what! DWay is looking to convert everyone to this 6000 unit, they have more control over what you can do and when with it, I am looking around for some hacks for this system, as yet have found nothing apart from one that gives me more information on the system and the setup page located here.... http://192.168.0.1/fs/advanced/advanced.html some intersting stuff in there! If anyone has any information on hacking this unit, I would love to hear it.

Check with your local codes or a NEC code book for grounding your dish, your dish should be grounded unless its mounted direct to the ground, mine is on top of my roof, of which is brand new and the asshole that mounted it had to move it. If your dish is mounted on your roof, have the installer come back out and ground it, that is part of his job! if not report his ass to your local state fire marshall, I deal with these guys on a daily basis being an electrician. It will discharge any built up static, and will discharge any lightining strikes or static from lightning, make sure its grounded at the block on the back of the dish, thats what the block is there for, you could damage your equipment and anything attached to it if not.
