Hey all, I downloaded comcast security manager and it is a beta version of the new software. I quickly uninstalled it because it made my speed test so slow. I normally get between 7.0-7.8Mb. Since I installed the program I've been getting 4Mb. I uninstalled it and did system restore to get my net settings back before the install. But I am still downloading at 4Mb. I've done a modem/router restart. I've already run spybot and ad aware SE plus. Now I need to know if anyone knows how to get my old settings from before the install of comcast security manager. Thankyou very much/

I agree and I personally wish I was on one of those packages! But nothing is coming to Pittsburgh Misery. I am stuck with Comcast because the only other option is Verizon DSL and I would have to move ten minutes away to get it.

They upgrade the download speeds yet rarely upgrade upload speed. That's because they don't want gamers to suck up all the upload bandwith. Comcast is the upload Nazis! :haha: Who knows...maybe we will get over 1Mb upload one day!

It is in the picture you posted. Go where it says receive buffer and change that value to 32. If you did something else on accident then put back old values in those boxes but again...be sure to turn receive buffer to 32!

100 base half and the 32 buffer should be listed in your nic options.

Now I've attached Van's cablenut settings. If you already have them...great, but if you don't download them and try the cable 5/768 settings. Set your nic to half duplex and set the buffer at 32 K bytes. You don't know that the online services will be equal...xbox live has established it's mark on online gaming. Playstation has not. Xbox live will continue on the 360...playstation can't try and compete online services if they continue to ps3 with their same online service setup. So far xbox live is and has been winning.

Just open ports for xbox live. If you make it DMZ host you are leaving to many gaps for hackers in your network. They can get in through any port if you make it DMZ.

correction 227GB hard drive

I have a brand spankin new hp with a 540 Intel Pentium 4 processor. With 512 MB of ram. 250GB hard drive. DVD+RW. ATI RADEON X300 SE graphics card. Personal video recorder and FM tuner. It's got the 5.1 surround sound and wireless keyboard and mouse. I have the media center addition but I don't record movies or shows. I just watch tv on it.

Even though I am not wireless I have the linksys wrt54g wireless router. I play on live with the 8/768 package offered from comcast. I can hold 16 people in any game with this router. Don't be discouraged if you are trying to host. I also tried buying my own modem because comcast has horse sh1t modems. I bought a Motorola Sb5100. I love it! I never disconnect from live. Hope this info is helpful.
