yeah but currently i'd settle for a meager Symmetrical 100Mbit
-
you could try testing to LA/SF bay area i know a lot of hosters buy servers in those area's because of the great peering to asia
-
the quickest way to determine if its the router or not is to bypass the router and connect your mac with a Cat5e cable directly to the modem if your still getting 5-6mbps then it is indeed not the router and their problem and they should fix it
-
what settings are you referring to? there are several mac owners on here that can assist you with troubleshooting and other things i know a little about mac but would need quite a bit more info about your setup to be of any help

i read about that company on the web a while back *drools* man i want some residential 1Gbps
-
same thing happens to me but it stops at 2Mb tests it sounds like its using the smart test and not recognizing that your telling it a specific min size
-
Welcome to testmy.net Binaryoutlaw Im glad your enjoying the site and features if you need anything dont hesitate to ask Mark
-
first off Welcome to testmy.net Denis. looking at your history alot of your test results are pretty consistant there are a few slow ones in there though... could you tell us a little more about your connection to better assist you? what are your advertised speeds? ( the speeds the isp says you should be getting ) what type of internet connection is it? ( dsl, cable, sat, 3G, 4G) what OS are you running on your pc? what router / modem do you have? also i noticed your testing from your ipad so that means wifi problems can also occur on wifi that are completely seperate from the actual internet connection itself. ~ Mark

same thing happens to me during prime time and it has absolutely nothing to do with yours or my connection... basically their backbone gets more saturated during primetime hours and the servers that host their HD content can't provide the data fast enough to how many customers they have i can test here at 62Mbps and still not stream 720p from youtube
-
yeah when i first got high speed it was 1Mbps/1Mbps dsl line now i'm on a 60/6 line it seems kinda silly ever having anything that slow
-
Indeed! And congrats on your new speeds

i have a couple level 60's thus far the monk seems to be one of the weaker characters atm kinda makes me sad i'm currently enjoying my wizard though and yeah as soon as i got hacked (my first ever time being hacked in a blizzard game) i setup the authenticator on my android phone and it hasn't happened since try DiskBench its free there are several places you can download it from it doesn't require an installer or anything its pretty basic but gives the features your looking for ~ Mark
-
i have gotten hacked already luckily i was on when he hacked me so i promptly changed my password however blizzard told me they could only restore my acc to the day before and it had been my day off so i made a lot of progress that day... all i really lost was 300k gold so i said screw it and just kept it the way it was i'll add you for sure though

or some data corruption on CA3LE's database he might have fixed it you just never know

i'm kinda stumped man i really don't know what is going on
-
Why don't you just use your Google or level3 dns servers the addresses are 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2 or 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.8.6
-
I've been playing a lot of D3 myself what's your gamertag?
-
I use level3 dns servers I tried open dns for a bit but they are to consumerish for me though
-
your very welcome I'm glad I could help although not sure what I did haha -mark
-
the main reason your seeing such a difference between the test in brisbane and testmy.net is because the tests here are hosted in the united states as are most of the downloads your probably attempting to download the 450kb/s limit your running into is most definately that of peering between Australia and the US

Does motorola make surfboards for DSL?

Cat6 is intended for speeds upwards of 1Gbps Cat5e is perfectly fine for home use theres no way you'd be able to utilize Cat6 with the connection you currently have infact you'd need an enterprise level connection such as the one hosting this testing site to even need Cat6 there are only a few places in the world that offer residential Gigabit connections as far as different results with different computers that could be caused by a lot of things which we can discuss your laptop probably has Gigabit LAN not a gigabit wifi connection it at most has a 450Mbps wireless N adapter but even still if your router is wireless G it will not connect at a rate higher then 54Mbps ~ Mark
-
you could get your own wireless N router there are some relatively inexpensive one's out there you probably wouldn't notice an increase in speed since wireless G supports up to 54Mbps even if you take off the 15-20% overhead you lose from it being wireless your still well above what you need for the connection you currently have the only place you'd notice an increase in speed is on local file transfer's from one computer to another in your house
