Slow DSL Connection, New To The Site, Help!!
VanBuren replied to RoidRage's topic in Make it Faster...
looking good, keep visiting and tell your friends about this site you wanted me to explain what happend the default TCP settings on win 98 and ME is basicly made for LAN connections with very low ping if you have a low ping you wont need a big receivebuffer ( RWIN ) to get a fast transfer rate here is a defenition of RWIN "DefaultRcvWindow - This parameter determines the maximum TcpReceiveWindow size offered by the system. The receive window specifies the number of bytes a sender may transmit without receiving an acknowledgment. In general, larger receive windows will improve performance over high (delay * bandwidth ) networks. For highest efficiency, the receive window should be an even multiple of the TCP Maximum Segment Size (MSS)." the RWIN can be calculated, if you know the MSS, latency and the Bandwidth your ISP offer VanBuren -

hey Nos7667 and welcome to the forum ppl testing when they have a problem with their connection and also alot of ppl choose not to tweak it, thats probl why the average is low EDIT: here is the average "Comcast.net Download Average = 3273 Kbps :: 400 KB/sec --- 53775 records found (30 days of logs) " what is your cap? i think the 3 MB test forward to 6 MB KB test if you score above 6 Mbps but if you using Smart test it dosent run all test sizes, it starts with a 97 KB testfile and depending what you score on that your forward to another testfile, eg if you score 5 Mbps, then your forward to 2992 KB test and if you score above 6 Mbps your forward to 6 MB test. CABLE has more details about the rate of forwarding. VanBuren

not bad, but should be alot faster when your inside the planet network ( same as testmy.net) the upload test is not accurate above 1 Mbps or so this is my fastest overseas score :::.. Upload Stats ..::: Connection is: 2025 Kbps about 2 Mbps (tested with 1496 KB) Upload Speed is: 247 KB/sec Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/ Bottom Line: 36 times faster than 56K you can upload 1MB in 4.15 second(s) Validation Link :: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/get.cgi?Test_ID=KRUX9EOMS VanBuren

i assume you have cablenut installed download this attached file (DSL PPPoE 3000 768.zip ), unzip it to C:ProgramCablenut open cablenut adjuster, click delete cablenut tweaks and click save to registry, in top left corner click file, load custom settings file, browse to C:ProgramCablenut and dubble click on the file you unzipped. now click save to registry and reboot check speed again, use the 2992 KB testfile for download and 1496KB testfile upstream, also make a new tweaktest and post result good luck VanBuren

that seems like a good deal 27,53 USD for 8 Mbps VanBuren

quote from https://www.speedguide.net/read_articles.php?id=1497 "Windws XP SP2 introduces a few new twists to TCP/IP in order to babysit users and "reduce the threat" of worms spreading fast without control. In one such attempt, the devs seem to have limited the number of possible TCP connection attempts per second to 10 (from unlimited in SP1). This argumentative feature can possibly affect server and P2P programs that need to open many outbound connections at the same time." VanBuren -
