  5. hey bent240LV try restoring your registry with cablenut open cablenut, click delete cablenut tweaks and click save to registry and reboot also set your NIC to 100Mbps full duplex quote from http://dslnuts.com/tips_tricks.shtml "Windows 2000 or XP: to change to half-duplex: * Open Control Panel. * Double-click Network and Dial-up Connections. * Identify the icon for your cable modem connection: usually Local Area Connection. * Right-click that icon and select Properties. * Under the ethernet adapter icon, click the button Configure. * Click the tab Advanced to bring it to the front: * In the Property box, the property name to be selected varies according to model of ethernet card. Examples are: Network Link Selection, Media Type, Connection Type, Duplex Mode, or any similarly-named property which can have Values looking like Auto-Negotiation, or 10BT, or 10BaseT. * In the Value box, select a value which either (a) explicitly says half-duplex or semi-duplex, or ( at least does not say full-duplex [e.g. 10BaseT on its own is OK]. If there is a choice between 10 and 100 with half-duplex, choose the 10. Do not choose 10Base5, 10Base2, or AUI. * Click OK to exit the Adapter settings. * Click OK to exit the Connection properties. " now make a new test VanBuren

  10. hey maxair002000 and welcome to the forum bypass that router and connect your PC direct to modem via ethernet now make a new tweaktest i think your modem or router freak out this is from the tweaktest RTT min: 45.6 ms RTT max: 1078.0 ms RTT avg: 560.3 ms VanBuren
  11. hey bp66 and welcome to the forum I use Norton Internet Security 2005 and works great, beside speedtesting on this site, so i just disable it during test, its not a big deal. the firewall dosent slowdown the real transferate EDIT: you need to restart your browser everytime you disable the firewall for speedtesting here from the uploadtest "Loading data to be uploaded... If you have a firewall online this may lag the loading, Symantec Client Security and Zone Alarm are known to have issues and need to be taken down... unless you like to wait This box will disappear once form data is loaded If this still takes what seems like too long for this box to disappear after shutting down firewalls and proxies, you may need to reboot your browser. In most cases if you wait it out the upload test will still perform accurately, but will take longer to perform." VanBuren
  12. i dont think the problem is your settings open cablenut, click delete cablenut tweaks and click save to registry now reboot test speed again and if you cant reach 2 Mbps, call your ISP and let them check your modem VanBuren

  21. spitzzz you need to keep in mind that the browser speedmeter dosent calculate accurate the first seconds. when you click on a link and it ask you where to save it, the browser has already started downloading the file to a temorary folder on your hardrive. So when the transfer begun the speedmeter will calculate from the amount of downloaded bytes/ in the time from when you clicked ok. so the 1st second, you probl has already downloaded 1 MB and that will show 1MB/s, so when testing the speed with browsers, you need to download a large file ( 30 MB+ ) and wait for it to complete, then make a screenshot of the average speed for the transfer. VanBuren
  22. very nice spitzzz. and what a burst on that filedownload VanBuren
